The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hello all,
Based on the work of Jonesey the cat, I made this file.
I applied his suggestions and also brought some modifications in the layout.
I like it but it misses the "confidential" feeling.
I am open to any suggestion.
Good reading
Sven

Hey Svenza,

Overall I'd say this looks pretty cool! One issue is that the word "Confidential" written in red on the top of each page is missing the "C".
I don't know that I understand your choice of Weyland Corp. over Weylan-Yutani or Weyland-Yutani. If the dossiers are from the 2120's then shouldn't it be Weylan-Yutani with the Egyptian style logo? We don't know when Weyland merged with Yutani, but everything on the Nostromo was branded with that joint company's logo.
Just my two cents.

On an unrelated note, it bugs me that there are references to Gateway Station in relation to the Nostromo crew as Ripley clearly states she doesn't recognize it, but this was due to a last minute script change. The dossier had already been prepared and is really just set dressing anyway.

The Company name "Weylan Yutani" is shown briefly on one of the computer screens when the ship "boots up" at the beginning of ALIEN:

Just to the left of your arrow is what I believe may be an in-joke: Ridley nicknamed the two computers in the opening scene "Tom and Jerry", and so here we have the designation JER. I'll have to check and see if the other one says 'TOM'!

Weylan-Yutani also appears on the Aspen Beer labels and I think one other video screen.

Just a nit-picky thing...but I would change the font you used on the cover/first page, from myriad? to something resembling ones you used in the body of the dossier. I would stick with the courier font or something. It doesn't seem to fit.

All of the Nostromo props are marked as "Weylan-Yutani". Yes without the d. That was the company name in he first movie. The prop department had lots of stamps, stickers, and marks for the company logo. There really is a hug amount of detail when you start looking for it. And you continue to find more. I know. ;)

The Egyptian style winged symbol is on absolutely everything (glasses, mugs, coffee makers, space suits, uniforms, etc. etc.), but the symbol *and* the company name together only appear a few times, like on the beer can I posted.

Perhaps the crew still had Waylan(d) branded stuff from before the merger.

I would remove the "Open" from "Open File".
I think that was meant to simulate the computer command line, seems a bit silly on a proper dossier.

Hello all,
I read your suggestions and applied in this version :
- Decided to keep Weyland-Yutani (logo is easier to get)
- Changed the WY logo to the Egyptian Wing
- Font uniformized on whole document
- Font changed to Eurostile (same as MOTHER Interface)
- Standardized dates
- Some alignements corrected
- A "Tap hyperlink" added on specific texts
- Minors corrections

Have a good reading,
Sven

I think that looks pretty damn cool! I like the "tap to access" idea, especially when you get to Ash 8)
