The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So there isn't going to be an Alien sequel?

Where are people getting the idea that this new film will be set in the Alien universe?

The only thing mentioning the Universe I've read is this bit:

“While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien’s DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative."

From the above, it's a new universe with an original story, with unique ideas. No direct Alien connection I can see, though it sounds like there might be a few nods to it.

Its because i know some people who are working on it, and they have been making some Alien universe specific stuff, now its possible that all that will be scrapped, and i havnet spoken to them for a while, but props/ sets have been made

WTF!!! No prequel?!
Just read a nother article in the local paper specifying that it's now definitely not part of the alien story. Is this guy pulling my leg or is he producing the best smoke screen in the history of movie making to cover what he is really doing?
Wonder if it was the situation in Tunisia that had an impact on the course of the project. For a second I was not sure if it would rule out a later prequel but as stated in the article here its just an conversion of the script. How can it be better putting it to a non Alien universe?

It's going to be very interesting to see if one can spot any aliensque traces in the movie. I hate these kind of metaphoric projects.

Dont know what to say but Im some what relieved, Its so stress full having to wait being scared of what the end result might be like now when one seems to know so much about the movies.

The thing is about this whole affair is when the rumours first broke about an Alien Prequel Scott made the suggestion that the Alien as we know it wont make an appearance until the end of the then mooted two movies.

So far thinking about it I cant see anything has changed. The plot is still has attributes to the leaked script, its still set in the Alien Universe, there will still be nods to the Aliens. So far whats changed really.

Umm...

They keep saying "Alien prequel" in these updates.

So what's the deal? :|

Oh and Paul...

The franchise was dead long before 2009.

I guess you were lucky and missed the "recently" made Star Wars movies. I suppose you can't really blame her completely though. I guess she did the best with what she was given, but still.

Aww, it wasn't her fault. She did the best she could do under the circumstances. It was mostly the direction's fault.

Speaking of which, you HAVE to watch the prequel reviews by Red Letter Media. I'm sure most of you heard of them, but they're a must watch. Explains a lot of things. Funny, too! :D

The best she was given. Padme is a headcase. I've posted this elsewhere and it frames my opinion of the prequels...

Lucas used the term 'love story' to describe what cannot be described by anyone not on medication. Forget that there are few, if any real love building moments between Padme and Anakin...almost...well...ever! Star Wars didn't so much die for me, as it went totally bat$#!+ insane.

Anakin: "Padme..."

Padme: "What's wrong?"

Anakin: "Padme. I killed a whole village of sandpeople for the death of my mom."

Padme: "You killed some of the men of the village...?"

Anakin: "Um...no. I killed everyone."

Padme: "Wait. You killed the men who actually hurt your mother."

Anakin: "No, no. I killed EVERYONE."

Padme: "You killed all the men...? Even the ones who didn't directly hurt you mother."

Anakin: "All of the men...and everyone else."

Padme: "Your mom...an innocent women...was killed by a few sandpeople, soooo...you killed all of their innocent women?"

Anakin: "Well...yes. And the kids."

Padme: "You killed all the kids!?"

Anakin: "Yes."

Padme: "Teens?"

Anakin: "Yes."

Padme: "Toddlers?"

Anakin: "Yes."

Padme: "And...babies?"

Anakin: "Yes."

Padme: "..."

Anakin: "I was upset."

Padme. "Yeah I get that. So...you just came from a village of sandpeople...where you committed an act of wholesale slaughter? Not just a small rage involving one or two people. You cut down men and women again and again and again in mass genocide? Then you turned on the children and cut them down, never once giving pause to assess the carnage and unchecked horror of hacking up an entire village with a sword? Are you sure you didn't bomb the site from high altitude where you could just push a button and fire on a faceless target?"

Anakin: "Nope. I stood face to face with men and women and cut them down as they ran about in terror, screaming and fleeing as they tried to save their children and loved ones. In fact, I had to be pretty quick about it, so that no one would get away, so a lot of them took it in the back. Especially the children. At least those who didn't throw up their hands in shock and plead for mercy as I rushed them."

Padme: "So a lot of them would have been unarmed."

Anakin: "Yes."

Padme: "You need a hug, huh?"

Anakin: "I do, yes."

Padme: "I love you."

Anakin: "Ben never lets me do anything."

Not long after...

Anakin: "Padme..."

Padme: "Really? Again."

Anakin: "Well...yes...but this time it was an entire order of peacekeeping jedi, and at the same time, the betrayal of the entire galaxy."

Padme: "Please tell me that you didn't kill the..."

Anakin: "...Children? Yes...but to be fair, they had swords."

Padme: "These would be the children..."

Anakin: "Well, to be fair, they weren't children. They were younglings."

Padme: "So...they were at least 6 or 7."

Anakin: "Yeah."

Padme: "I love you."

Anakin: "And Ben is all pissed or something."

You're welcome. Hope it cheered you up, but it's kinda sick, huh? Imagine anyone you barely knew while dating telling you that they killed a whole village of people. Padme gave him a hug.

I'd be keeping them at arm's length, calm and in sight at all times while I was looking for a phone.

Apparently it's not uncommon for mass murderers on Death Row to receive love letters and wedding proposals from complete strangers.....
Bill Hicks used to do a good skit on it during his stand-up.

Aliens are intergalactic serial rapists and murderers. Despite this, the ladies can't resist the animal magnetism! ;)

Come on guys the Star Wars prequels were just to see how many aliens, starships, gadgets and other assorted things Lucas could cram in so he could turn them into money spinners. Here endeth the lesson! ;)

Anakin was nothing more than a mentally scarred stroppy teenager that lashed out and needed a good thump.

In a way im glad were not getting an Alien Prequel. The alien may just turn out to be created by some teenage clone of Bishop Weyland having a stroppy.
