The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Maybe the behind-the-scenes footage could be inserted like a 'white rabbit' feature - a symbol comes on screen during certain scenes and you can branch off and watch the BTS instead, then go back to the film?

I'd like to see pretty much any footage shot but not used. I don't care if it's a door flapping in the wind in the colony buildings, or the Burke Cocoon scene. I want to see everything shot that was cut.

I'd also be happy to see the "boring" behind the scene stuff.

High-res full screen scans/pics of props, blueprints, etc.

A new commentry with other people.

Of course everything previously in the DVDs should be included, unless they re-do a similar thing in HD and cover the same info.

More on building the props.

Any video that was made to be shown on screens on set, like helmet camera footage, sentry gun displays, MT screens, etc. The kind of thing we didn't get to see clearly full screen in perfect quality.

More of everything would be fine with me. :D

Hey Willie - has this been officially announced?

Before I explode in a joy-gasm, I wanted to make sure. This is my absolute #1 most wanted Blu-Ray, of course. I'm sure you're SOMEWHAT interested in it as well...

Something I forgot to mention:

It needs to be a very good (or preferably remastered) print!

I've read reviews of the T2 BD release and they say the picture quality is almost the same as the DVD. Not good enough! I'm almost as much a fan of the Terminator films as I am of the Alien ones, but I refuse to buy it when the picture isn't the best it can be (plus it has no extras, though that won't be a problem with Aliens).

Willie, what would be a good guess at a release month or year, if someone was to pick a date out of the air?

I was looking forward to a couple movies on Bluray, such as Predator... only to discover there were NO SPECIAL FEATURES at ALL!

And I'm sorry, but putting the movie in 1080p does NOT make that a special feature.

The Aliens films since the release of the SE on VHS back in the day have been blessed with no real shortage of special features. I just wish the DVD producers would get on the stick and quit sticking it to the consumers this way.

I missed getting the 2 dvd Predator 2 set with the BHTScenes documentaries and such. I refuse to buy yet another copy of a film I already own if it doesn't have "more and better" on the disc.

Just slapping a high res version on Blu-Ray does NOT make me want to rush out and buy it.

Now if there was a documentary with Terry English showing how he made the armor, I'd buy it on BR in a minute. :)

I was told by the production folks on the Quadrilogy that those things (commissioning a crew to film in the UK) are what Fox would consider too expensive. I offered myself and the collection to be featured (for expenses, no charge) and gave them Terry's details etc. but was declined. I think also it was because they wanted to roll the Quadrilogy out fairly quickly too so time was a factor against us too.

I'd love to see stuff like that though, and to hear Terry's stories about his time on the film etc. - maybe this time we'll get a chance. If I were Fox I'd hold out on the Blu-Ray release to gather a large amount of the best material possible before release; after all, its not like no one has seen the movie before so there's no rush in my book! ;)

BUT...think about those of us that actually like the audio visual part more than the bonuses. I for one am about to pee my pants waiting for Aliens to come out....I have gotten a few of my DVDs again on Blu Ray, just for the visuals and audio...(7.1 RULES!!)....I LOVE to see and hear the newly cleaned versions....I just re-got SST yesterday and look forward to seeing the new crispness of it, as well as listening to it...

So no, I dont care as much about added bonuses....just as long as I get to visually and auditorily enjoy the movie...

Although the first script draft turned in on 30 May 1985 was very close to the final film, some scenes in this version were dropped in the final film. Those include: - A shower scene with Ripley in a futuristic shower environment Ripley going into more detail about the facehuggers while briefing the Marines, calling the facehugger "a walking sex organ" to which Hudson replies, "Sounds like you, Hicks." - There are thirty atmospheric processing units on the planet, as opposed to only one in the final film. - Newt formally offering Ripley to be her daughter - Bishop encountering an alien while crawling along the tunnel (this scene also appeared in the final script but neither in the theatrical release nor in the Special Edition) - The second drop ship refueling itself before leaving the Sulaco under Bishop's remote control. - The first draft also included a scene with a cocooned Burke, which was shot but not included in any of the versions of the movie.

I'm talking about the latest BR.

Like the Replicant going through the glass. Plus a lot of subtle lighting + detail cleaning.

Not talking anything drastic.

This might be far too late to request, but I'd REALLY like to see Xenogenesis. It was JC's first film and is only 12 minutes long. That would be a fantastic extra to put on the discs!

You've just made my day!

Thanks :D I've wanted to see it for years, and when I looked for it, it was nowhere to be seen.

It's a shame I'm at work now, so I'll have to wait till tonight to watch it.

I was talking to a friend of mine who works at Best Buy, if its anything about moves he knows about it. This guy is like a movie/comic book guru. I asked him about the Blu-Ray release yesterday and he said they are planning on releasing it end of the year or in January. He thinks it will be ready in time for Christmas, but not 100% sure. Said it will be around the $200 range. He has always been very reliable in his release dates for movies and games, so I stick by his word.

As for what I'd like to see.... Burkes Cocooned scene. That will make my life if they finally include that scene!!!

Guys, the ORIGINAL Quadrilogy was $200 when it was released. And this time around its on Blu-Ray. I mean, think about it, average price of a blu-ray movie is $30 (at Best Buy at least) That would be $270 individually. SO really... its not a bad price. I'd buy it :-)

Err... I paid $89 for the Quad- and yes I bought it (actually had my wife buy it for me as a Christmas gift) when it was first released in 2003*.

However I'll give you that it stands to reason a BluRay set will be considerably expensive.

(*My God has it been six years already? )

I can't recall if it was the TV show Blossum or Rosane - but I think it was Blossum. They did an episode where someone in the family shot a short film that parodied the Alien movies.
It might be cool if there was a feature on the Blu-Rays showing some examples like this of Alien homages in pop culture.

$200 sounds a lot to me.

I think it was £50 over here for the Quad set. I'd pay the same again, but I'd probably wait a while if it was a lot more than that, since I have the films already, several times!

I know it costs them money to make new extras, but when DVDs of films started to come out they remastered then and added extras for a sensible price. Just cause it's on Blu-Ray shouldn't make much difference as the creation of the discs is only slightly higher I think (certainly not £20-£50 more per disc!).

I guess there will be more extras on these than the DVDs, but they will save some of that cost because of all the research and collation they must have done when they did the DVDs.

If it was priced at $200, I think it would make stories in the technology press! ;)

Even in the UK, where DVD's are usually 2x the price they are in the USA, I never saw it on DVD for more than £59.99. At the time, I couldn't afford it. I think that is the absolute maximum that they could sell the Blu-Ray for, IMO. Of course, because of that bloody ADC guy, I now have very little choice in the matter - even if it's $200 plus another $200 for a cheap Blu-Ray player - I'll have to buy it!

So, I'd doubt what the Best Buy guy said about pricing and release date.
