The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I've just recieved an email from HGC after I got a few things clarified. Re the "Grenade launcher bolt" I asked if it would rack like in the movie or would it have a more simple design, they said:

"Bit of both. It doesn't rack like a real Rem 870, but it does have
some resistance - it isn't sloppy.
Also opens the ejection port like the real thing when you rack it".

Don't know if any one else was wondering about this.....

The replicated thompson under the shrouds i want to know if it's metal. NOT! resin.

Plus weather we can move the triggers. I might get in contact with them and ask a further few questions.

Cheers

Vito this was discussed on page 4. It think it's fair enough, and let's face it this will be a VERY cool piece anyway!

Matsuo wrote:
There has been a lot of work put into this thing in order to get a reasonable compromise between functionality, metal content and price.

Many of the sacrifices made, notably the resin instead of metal Thompson and grenade launcher, and the lack of 'full' electronics, were made in order to give you metal shrouds, barrel vent and stock.

As far as the vent and stock solid resin would certainly cheapen the look of the piece and as far as metal shrouds, well it's a forgone conclusion that those are the single most desirable factor.

All these issues were juggled and prioritized, added and eliminated in order to keep the price reasonable. HCG did not want to make a solid resin gun for $200 or an all metal super 'hero' for $4000, The sub $1000 price is (we hope) what will make the HCG PR accessible to the majority of collectors.

Mmmmmmm.

I supposed i am abit spoiled with the fact. Cheers Harry!

But yeah. I would probably only display this one and use my Airsoft for the drops. I've had bad things happen with resin in the past.

=[

Oh well. Bring on the baby!

That's exactly what I'd do. The HCG will be an investment too so best to keep them in as-new condition. I need to get myself a Spulse for drops as they look very durable and can take a bashing... just like Spat! ;)

I think the simple explanation is that OD is preferred by some folks as it's the colour they perceive the PRs as being when viewing 'Aliens'.

Well....

I'm dissaopinted about the resin reciever.

BUT!! i am happy that i'll be able to display this one. No way would i bring this one to a drop. Like Harry said i think its a big investment if there kept top noch!

But yeah!

I've emailed the HCG customer adviser to look at this model alittle more closer. And answer another further questions.

Cheers

I Don't know if anyone else has seen this or posted about it. But I was poking around at Westfield Comics, and they are selling the HGC PR. No big deal right? Well they have a shipping date on their site
They are saying "ships in November". Hopefully that is accurate... should be around bonus time

Man I can't wait... Christmas come early!! \m/

Hmm. 140 bucks cheaper? Does anyone know if they offer the payment plan? And is this place pretty reliable?

Just contacted them for any interested. Their responce:

"Thanks for writing. We order these specifically for you from our distributor on a non-returnable basis, so they do need to be paid in full at the time you place your order."

No payment plan :( I guess that's the price you pay for a 140 dollar discount.

OD is the colour preferred by those who prefer the PR in its real-world colour. remember that the PR was only painted BB so that would appear to be OD under blue lighting.

So the film's every intention was for the USCM's PR to be OD, not BB.

For the record though this has never been stated or proved to be true anywhere at all, it's one of those things that's been discussed so much that it's turned into a 'fact' without any proof to back it up.

Looking at it logically film lighting (and post production colour grading) is done to give a film or a scene a particular look and/or feel, not to make things look another colour - that's what paint is for!

Fair one. It simply makes sense however that real world PR furniture would be OD.

Brown? ;) :P

Times 2.

Everything in the film was painted Brown Bess from the Pulse Rifles to the Sentry Gun cases to the big ol' APC and Dropship!

Hmmm. This rifle is an inevitable sell out. This leads me to wonder: if this pulse rifle is as insanely succesful as we all hope, do you think HCG might one day release a more expensive 'fully featured' version?
