The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Technically you would be but they say there's no such thing as bad publicity and really you'd only be promoting the game.

Pulse Rifle looks like crap. You'd think it would be easy to do a film/prop to game/3D model translation.

That's what puzzles/annoys me;

The Predator looks identical to the film version, as does the Alien.

So why is the armour and Pulse Rifle of the Marine so different compared to the flim versions? :|

To be 'down with the kids'?

Arrogant design team thinking they know better?

Angular velocity of the moon?

Who knows... Hopefully the servers this game and it's source code / media currently reside on mysteriously catch fire. And the redundant off site datacentre. And the on and off-site backup tapes. And the machines on the desks of the dev team. And all related paperwork and hard copies.

*ahem*

Well, at least it seems that they are still working on Aliens Colonial Marines. I had a look on the Gearbox Forum last night and some newbie has joined who is working on it; seems legit. Right now though he says they are focusing more on the Borderlands game, to return to concentrating more on Aliens CM later in the year.

Because they're not making a game of the film.

It's set about 80 years after the movie.

As for the developers - They make whatever Sega tells them to in the contract.

Game Info

Aliens vs Predator is an entirely new title for PC and high-definition consoles from acclaimed British developer Rebellion, the team behind the 1999 original PC gaming classic.

Bringing the most intense war between two of science-fiction’s most popular characters FPS fans, AvP delivers three outstanding single player campaigns and provides untold hours of unique 3-way multiplayer gaming.

Experience distinctly new and thrilling first person gameplay as you survive, hunt and prey in the deadly jungles and swamps surrounding the damned colony of Freya’s Prospect.

- As the Marine, you’ll experience a claustrophobic and terrifying experience where light is your friend, but there’s never enough. However, the United States Marine Corps are humanity’s last line of defence, and as such they are armed to the teeth with the very latest in high explosive and automatic weaponry.

- As the Predator, you will stalk from the shadows and from above, passing athletically through the treetops to ambush your victims. Although equipped with an array of powerful, exotic weapons and tracking equipment, honour ultimately dictates that you must get in close and take your trophies face to face.

- As the most deadly species in the universe, the Alien offers you the chance to play as the very stuff of nightmares - the monster in the dark swarming forward with countless others, jaws like a steel trap and claws like blades.

- Play all sides off against each other in a series of unique 3-way online modes and go tooth-to-claw-to-pulse rifle in the reinvention of one of multiplayer gaming’s defining moments.

I'm beginning to like the look of this. 8)

Nice! I've been looking for some Xeno screenshots.

I could moan about everything I think is wrong with that picture, but the beasts are different in every film, so I'll keep stum.

Alas, I might need to get a PS3 or a beefy PC sometime.

Actually it looks like the armors a little better than the ones used in the original AvP game, in that one the Marines helmet looked closer to the Kenner Hicks Figure than the movie one.

Have to admit that looked pretty sweet, the vision change was brilliant. Although I'm not happy the story involves the PredAlien - I thought we had left that piece of shit back in AVP-R! :?

The concept of the Predalien didn't originate in the film though. :)

I know - but my god the actual vision of it in that film destroyed the concept of it being successful for me totally. :)

Predalien as a concept I always though was pretty neat.

I didn't like the AVP-R design but I think it's a good game idea to include it as a Boss character.
Having said that about the movie design, if you look at the action figure from some angles it looks good.
I think it'll appear better in the game than it did in the film, and at least we can say it's screen accurate.

By the way, at E3 they confirmed Aliens Colonial Marines will see light of day as a future release.
Here's fingers crossed that plays out.

It was 'just so dark!!!'

Great news about A:CM though....SEGA is smart enough not to trash that.
