The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Cameron did an early sketch on the smartgun that details all its gadgets. Its on the DVD extra material but Im searching for a larger picture of this as the quality is too poor on the DVD to read all the fancy notes. Can any one help me find it (or e-mail it to me).

Much appreciation.

I may have it Jonsey, any chance you can post a screen-grab so I can see the image you're talking about?

Thanks everyone. Harry you are the greatest! Right on the spot. I just have to ask as there seems to be missing a little piece of text just beneath the flash suppressor/hider if you compare with the original, do you know what its supposed to say?

Regards
Jonsey

I'm afraid that's all I have, there's no more on the drawing I have so I guess it was photocopied badly as like you say the arrow is there but the text has been cropped off.

I'll see if I can find out for you though.

Harry

It seems a lot of people have got pictures of the M56 (Smartgun) up here. But if your interested, I have the technical manuel which not only has the Smart gun but also the vest and sight, articulation arm with DV-9 battery and one of the Smartgun from behind with the feed cover up and the drum mag removed. I can scan these for you no problem. Let me know if your interested.

I think quite a few folks have the TM, and I know that a PDF version was floating around in Cyberspace a while ago, thanks for the offer though Pvt. Cutter. :)

Thank you Cutter. Some of that stuff are pretty cool but as I'm doing some last end re-search of the original Alien/s productions for my pet project its the original conception prints that is temporary in focus.

As its the last note on the print left to decipher I will try it through my 56" plasma with some zoom again tomorrow and see if I can make something out of it then. The other ones was really a mess. Let me know if you find anything.

This reminds me of something I noted once:
While no type is mentioned in the movie, the Technical Manual refers to the Smartgun as an M56. However, I'm pretty sure to have seen a concept sketch where it is labeled M65! Harry, didn't you use that sketch as a background poster in Leicester?

Cheers,
Stefan

Ah, just found it (I'm not sure though if the text was on the original sketch....):

I think it was a different image, I'll check my files though.

The one I posted looks like a copy of the original sketch, the other one looks like a copy of a Dyeline copy of that sketch. Of course I added clearer text to the one I posted, but that's pretty obvious.

I just had the time to check the Leicester pictures - seems like I had an acute case of bad memory ;)
There was a concept sketch of the smartgun on the wall, but it was a closeup of the front section....

Cheers,
Stefan

Sorry Im new to some areas. What's the Leicester pictures?
Stefan do you know what the text say under the flash hider/Suppressor? I have checked all DVDs under Zoom and can only make out the first word Laser. The second one looks like a 5 or 6 letter word. Also can you date the blueprint that says M65, is the M65 added later or on the original print?

Jonsey

Oh, I was talking about an exibition/event at the National Space Center in Leicester where Harry displayed his collection.
Just check the board for Leicester and NSC and you'll find lot's of info about it and some nice pictures too.

There isn't much I can tell you about the image. The time stamp on my HD says 2003 for the last change and the small frame around it could indicate the it's a screenshot from the Quadrology or the Legacy Box. From memory I'd say that this picture predates the Technical Manual, but that doesn't count.

As for the Text - could it read Laser Scanner?

Cheers,
Stefan

It says 'Laser return'. (Presumably meant as the receiver unit for the laser reflected from the target, thus giving the range.)

Also the one above it says 'Muzzle cylinder'.

There you go. One less issue on my back. Thank you so much!

Still anybody got any Idea around where the M65? came from. Interestingly I came to a similar name a few years back but I couldn't really remember the source so I dropped it.
