The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Here's a pict from the AlienWar display: (still there)
Image

I'm more curious of the part that broke off from here:
Image
(Motor is smooth from this side. Must have been the lighting)
This is the only pict I have with everything on it:
Image
Some type of cap painted black.

Maybe there are some other picts out there when everything was still on the helmet.

The first one shows no lines on the motor - so I guess it was really just an optical illusion.

I think the last picture is from Terry Reed's workshop (he build the helmet).
It's interesting to see that the (magnetic field) sensor unit on top of the Rapier sight is still in place. All the other Rapier sight units I've seen so far were missing this part.

Cheers,
Stefan

I'm not sure about the M-2 part as there is no base on it. Also if the M-2 has the same groove as the M-3, we can count it out. Sadly, there are no photos of the parts in the downloadable catalog.
The same part seems to be used on the helmet camera of the regular helmet btw. It would be interesting to see if the color of that part is the same green as the other motor parts.

The PC-3 and PC-4 are possible candidates, but again it's hard to tell without at least a photo of the actual part.

The hole looks like some part broke off, but as it is present on both helmets, it might be done intentionally.

Cheers,
Stefan

Can't find an old HAMA-cable with the plastic cover?
Then build one:

Original and Replica. :D

You just need a current production HAMA-cable and some transparent heat shrink tubing ($3 for 5m).

Cheers,
Stefan

Nice one.

I got some from another member, to put on also.

Need to do that, replace the recently found bits, weathering, and graphics.

Also will get the spunkmeyer sight bit done for those guys some time soon.

Just swamped until mid June.

Still gutted I used to have one of those cables!

I used it... To make my Halcyon 12" Alien's jaw move!

At least you didn't throw it out, but used it on something cool. I hope you still have the alien

Sadly not :(
I also used superglue to attach the clear dome :|

Then when I realised I'd cocked that up, tried to convert it to an aliens style alien.
Being only about 14 though, I did a pretty rubbish job of the eyesockets. My local model shop wouldn't sell me epoxy, so I had to use Fimo!

But on a lighter note, I opened a pack of clothesline yesterday, and guess what it looks like? :)

That's cool... I also used vinyl heat shrink tubing on mine. I've been sidetracked by work, but have been working on collecting parts for the right side of the helmet to go along with Matt and Steve's parts on the right... Here are some shots of what I have so far... I also just got the Plastruct parts in after the pics. I think I've done all I can but cut the holes :)

Ok, I thought it's time for a little update:

The unit still needs some details (and a cleanup) but it won't be too long til it's finished...

Cheers,
Stefan

Any picts of the rest of the helmet....

Nope, no luck with that part!
I took an aluminium rod and used my drill as a poor man's lathe to get it done.

More pics soon....

Cheers,
Stefan

Still need to build the magnetic field sensor and do some detail work on the sight unit.
The Helmet is on the way too, but the paint is currently drying - so still no picture of the helmet.

Cheers
Stefan

Hi Iain,

here are the Templates:

http://www.hooverae.com/upload/files/030809/1861424.jpeg

Just print with 150dpi and they should be 1:1 scale. To check if the print is ok, I've included the two reference dimensions.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Stefan

I used 3mm sheet styrene to close the cutouts and Revell putty to fill up the edges.

Cheers,
Stefan

That's amazing work Stefan, it looks great!

Is there a definitive parts list for these helmets for those folks who would like a go at making their own scratch-built helmet dressing parts? If there isn't it'd be great to see one!

Harry

Same here.

I think Matt Noble said he used aluminium sheets to put his greeblies on but you know that Matt... always showing off ;)
