The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I was reading over the Sci-Fi Channel site when I saw a story on there about movie posters for movies sequels they would like to see. Among them was this entry:

Quote:

Aliens: The Colony

What It Is: The Alien franchise returns to the scene of its most successful outings—planetoid LV-426. We see the colonists of Hadley's Hope, including Newt's family, as they fight for survival while elements of the Weyland-Yutani Corp. seek to exploit the xenomorphs in the derelict alien ship for their own ends.

Why We Want It: Depending on your opinion of Alien 3, it's been either 23 or 17 years since someone's told a compelling story in the universe Ridley Scott created with his 1979 film. The time is ripe for it to be reclaimed from crappy vs. Predator movies and comic books.

Who Could Do It: The key here is to rescue the aliens from the PG-13 action shlockfests in which they've appeared recently, and to make them grotesque and SCARY again. Swedish director Tomas Alfredson, whose Let the Right One In is one of the creepier films of the past year, could really bring across the dread of an isolated colony being eaten from the inside.

Here's a link to the full article.

:D Yeah I love their comment about rescuing the franchise from 'crappy' comic books... by utilising a story well told in one!!!

I'm more than a tad skeptical, considering how every Sci-Fi channel original movie that has recently been released has been a steaming pile...

I think they're just saying they'd like to see them done. I hope they're not suggesting they produce them. :x

Judging by the ratings? Most people wouldn't.

I loved the show, but Fox is canning Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Ratings and also, they will more than likely "drop the Terminator license" for when Salvation comes out. Maybe the movie will do really well and they will allow the show to come back. Maybe.

Canning Conner chronicles? Well, well. I liked that show but I never figured it out why there were so many shotguns and 9mill pistols. I mean weren’t these guys, the freedom fighters and Terminators like trained or smart. There where like 15 fire fights with the dumbest pre-engagement actions I have seen. -There’s a Terminator, better run, no wait I must have me my 9mill, and, and some ammo. Also I have to look cool so I threw away a clip or two at it. I have tried it 14 times but maybe this time it works. The female combat robot does the same and she must know what she’s doing! FOX Get realistic and save the world with some .50 cals, 20mm rifles, AT Mines or RPGs then you don’t have to do so many episodes to worry about.

Any way a series about the Colony is not that bad. Yeah we have Newts story and that’s a nice representation. Give me a call and Ill send you some Cameron like synopsis (have a bunch of them based on a critical analysis of the original movie, did a visual CSI on the subject once) and we can think it out how to do this as uncomfortable as possible for the viewers.

Couldn’t be worse then Alien 4? Even completely crippled screen-writers could do it better. Hey even a cat could do it. Bring it on Fox (but you have to be prepared to drop the kid stuff).

Newt's story was already told, in comic book form. Irony? Uneducated "scyfy" employees? Oddly though, dark horse has made the VS. Predator concept work quite well over the years, and the original Aliens vs. predator screenplay, which is based on the original comic book, is damn fine writing.

It's not a sequel if it's about Hadley's Hope before the marines landed.

A sequel would be the company going BACK to LV-426, finding out the derelict ship was undamaged by the explosion, and attempting to harvest eggs from it.

ALIENS: HARVEST

Which I think was the title of a dark horse comic anyway.

I already wrote that story. I called it:

ALIENS: PROGENY

The Company (along with "help") did exactly that- went back to LV-426 (two years after the Sulaco incident) and found that the Derelict was undamaged by the processor explosion.

However something has gone horribly wrong.

Used some familiar names for characters. I had it posted on my website, but unfortunately MSN Groups no longer exists.

Well, I'd like to read it if you ever post it again, lemme know!

I like your title for it too.

My buddy Ryan wrote a fan film that had a Weyland Yutani commando squad on a search mission for the Sulaco, eventually finding it and the cargo the Queen left inside it floating like junk in space.
