Ok, for 10 years now I've been making Marine Armor to order. I've always done my best to make sure that anyone that ordered gear from me was happy with what they got out of the box, no matter what.
Let's be honest, I don't turn much of a profit from Armor, anyone who has gotten a set of my armor can attest to how much work goes into the final product. And when measured against what it cost, you always come out ahead of me.
Sadly (or awesomely), Wizard Entertainment contacted me yesterday about coming on board and working at their conventions. There was a lot of back and forth, but ultimately they made me an offer that I just could not refuse.
So as of today, I am the Convention Coordinator for Wizard. That means I am running, or helping run Wizard World Philly, Chicago Comic Con and The Big Apple National.
This is a full time, 9-5, Monday to Friday type job, with weekend work thrown in on top of it.
So this means I can no longer accept Marine Armor orders. It's just not going to be possible for me to work a full time job and make armor to order.
All orders currently in hand will be finished in due time of course, but as of tomorrow night (April 16th), I'll be pulling all the armor out of the SpatCave store.
Resin kits will remain, but the armor will be on hold.
I know people are going to be pissed, so here's my plan. In my spare time, once all the armor orders I currently have are shipped, I'll sit down and make 2 sets of armor. One with a Large Ab Pad, and one with a Regular Ab Pad. I'll also make a steel helmet and a plastic helmet. Once they are complete and ready to go, I'll post pics and info on the suits in the PX here. First come, first served as it were. If they don't sell here in a week, I'll pop them on eBay. I'll try and do that once a month or so.
But that's the current plan. I'm sooooo sorry to have to do this, but working for Wizard is my dream job and I know for a fact that I will not have the time to take orders directly anymore. But I still want to make sure that people can get awesome armor at an awesome price.
The only other option I had was to double the price of armor to scare people away and get them not to order it unless they really, really wanted it. But I think this is best, and will always make sure that the members of the Aliens Legacy board get first dibs on my gear.
Feel free to gripe and hate me now.
