The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi all.

Well i finally got my hands on a BUG suit, it had been started with some base blacks so that helped :)

Do not know if you guys like progress on builds etc or not , but here goes, if this is not ok to do , please let me know and ill delete it.

I do not want to be film accurate as i feel the colour does not work too well under normal/bright lighting, so i messed about with some colours until i decided on greens and greys. I am pretty happy with how the scheme works on the head, just need to finish the mouth/teeth now, before moving onto the rest of the suit.

i took several photos under different lighting to try see how it will look etc.

Dark room No Flash ( camera adjusted the light alittle for some reason )

Image

Then this was taken under bright lights.

Image

And finally one with the camera Flash on.

Image

any tips or thought , very welcome.

Yup, especially the one with flash, as that's probably what most of the pics taken will have. 8)

Wowzers. Did you buy Chris Hurn's suit or did you also redo all the pipes?

Paint is amazing. You do a painting service for Preds, don't ya? I might have to engage your services to do an Alien one day! :)

the head is pretty much AS IS when i got it. The head was matt black with some kahki green on one side.

i traded with a guy called APEERS on the lair ( nice guy ) he got it from someone who had to apparently sell the kit. So sorry i do not know whos it is originally.

I just tidied it up around the piping making some bits cleaner and did some minor latexing work around the tubeing etc.

Sounds like Chris suit then. I only found it on ebay AFTER it sold. Sad thing, I would've paid nearly twice as much as it went for in the end.

I wanted to find out what tubing he used to replace the rubbish cast ones, but he's disappeared for the moment.

I didnt buy it from ebay , but maybe the guy who i got it from did.

The suit is not all painted if i helps track the original owner.

The tail is bare latex , 2 of the back spines were not attatched and i have had to do a slightly different setup due to the quality of the spines, to make them fit anything like symetrical :(

also tbh alot of the suit parts need stripping as whatever paint has been used is cracking and flaking off quite badly.

This head will be replaced my my own im sculpting btw :D

Wow. Looks very sexy. I'm building a suit myself. I hope I can get a paint job looking as good as what you have. :D

Did alittle more work on this, over the last 2 days, working on the BUG suit has got me motivated to kick on and restart work on the alien head i have been sculpting on and off for the last year hehe.

couple more pics, nothing exciting though. Done the smaller patches, and the backspine module. ( still not sure how they made one rear forearm patch so small compared to the other )
I definately think ill be sculpting some additional patches for this, to fill in big gaps.

anyway , couple of pics on their own then a pic showing them with the head.

Oh , heres a little pic of the Custom ALIENS head im working on, its not meant to be accurate, its meant to be MY take on the beasty, and alittle more streamlined look to him. I will be adding different details and using different tubes etc to give him a different look.

Dimensions are roughly 38inches long, by about 15 wide ( both measurements following the curve of the head )

anyway.

PIC ( only one side being worked on until i decide if the look is final, and ive finished roughing out the shape. )

Nice paintwork on the other pieces Lee, be good to see this when its all applied to a suit.

Your version of the alien head is coming along nicely as well mate, cant wait to see it finished. Can see some differences in there but still retaining the major look of the originals, nice one

Cheers
Darren

Come to a stand still for now, all thats left to paint are the feet and tail.
I have to amend the feet 1st as they are too small, so itll be after xmas until i get deckshoes and undersuit id imagine.

For now im going to amend the neck as its too short, but after ive done that ill post a final pic of everything bar the feet painted.

thanks again.
