The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

While I can't "officially" tell you why I'm asking, I'm sure you can guess.

Here's some of what I've come up with so far:

I think in 1991 or so, Fox had produced some sort of animated series pilot called "Operation Aliens" - I know a lot of people have been dying to get a look at that:

http://www.alienscollection.com/operationaliens.html

Here's a list of some of the videos I can think of:

-Giger's Alien (1981)Making of Alien video RARE! Includes Space Jockey construction, warrior head mechanical effects, shots of Giger constructing the original alien with bones and clay, interview with Ridley Scott and more. Subtitles

James Cameron: A Director & His Work (making of Aliens, UK) Making of featurette. Included on Alien rental release in the UK (?)

Alien 3: Bringing the Screams to the Screen Alien Saga retrospective (recorded from HBO)

The Making of Alien 3 Behind the scenes feature, available in Triple Pack

The Making of Alien (UK) Behind the scenes feature

Alien 3 Advance featurette

Alien 3 Now at the Movies featurette

Alien 3 Pepsi ad (long and short versions)

Alien 3 Awards nomination (Woodruff/Gillis)

Alien War (UK)Segments recorded from This Morning & Express News (UK). Also Scottish TV featureAlien War (UK)Promo (London)Alien War (UK)Unreleased Making of feature

The Making of Alien Resurrection hosted by Ron Perlman Video recorded from HBO

The Making of Alien Resurrection hosted by Brad DourifVideo recorded from The Sci-Fi Channel

Behind the Scenes: Alien ResurrectionVideo recorded from E! Entertainment Television

The Making of Alien ResurrectionVideo recorded from TNT Rough Cut

The Making of Alien ResurrectionVideo recorded from Movie Magic (several segments)The Making of Alien ResurrectionSegments recorded from Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, Good Day LA and Fox News

Alien Resurrection Featurette (included on Widescreen Series videos)

Movie Magic Several segments on the Alien saga including Skotaks segment

Alien/Aliens/Alien 3 audio visual press kits

Burke's "cocooned" deleted scene.

I'd buy a Blu-Ray player for it alone!

Reminds me of the *special edition, must have, directors cut, editer's cut, with commentary by somebodys dog edition that came out recently for Blade Runner* for gods sake enough rehashing of the same movie and make us another film that isn't garbage!

Uh, we're not rehashing it - we're simply releasing on a hi-def format that that films have never been on before. Because of the advantages of Blu-ray, there's opportunity to include material that was left off previously.

I just went HD with my cable so I'm all over this.

Not to blow our own trumpet but some footage from the fans would be great. Fox can receive the footage we have and do something with it.

I'll refrain from saying anything else but I've still not gone through the whole Quad set bonus disc wise :(

'Peace Through Superior Firepower' from the Aliens bonus disc is a must though ;)

How about, since Blu-rays cost more, why not package it with some sort of collectable? Something along the lines of a limited edition, numbered even, swatch of screen used clothing card.

I think audio commentary is a must. I've watched/listened to the one with Paxton/etc.

Actually, it would be cool to get perhaps a retrospective commentary with the OTHER actors who were in the film as well,
Such as Cynthia Scott, Jenette Goldstein, etc. It would be neat to see pics of them as they were, and as they are now.

How about a mini-documentary with Terry English? Perhaps showing how he makes the marine armor? THAT would rank right up there with the BAPTY footage on the extras DVD from the Quad set.

But that will just increase the cost further. "Collector's" edition DVD sets are anywhere from $10-$20 more than a standard "DVD Only" Special edition set.

That's right Willie. Although I'm not sure about the title of the featurette but I had that Alien release on VHS. I gave it to a friend of mine though and it did have a featurette on Aliens either before the main film or after I can't remember which. If I still had a VHS player I'd copy it onto my PC and upload it. Assuming my mate still has it of course.

Cheers

Darren

Agreed. Would like to focus on interviewing Dom for his commitment to the AL board, his dedication to the USCM and his great love of Brown Bess.

CR@P!!

Russ is right, Terry English (great last name) needs to get on there for sure.
I can't believe I didn't think of that.

Harry would be a great interview also....maybe a tour of the collection?

And a look at USCM and Aliens fandom the last 20 years.
Not sure how Joy would feel about it, but Chris (FNG's) APC????

I have contacted Andrew and pointed him towards this thread. It may (or may not) be complicated by the fact he's already in talks with Fox UK.

> A tour of the WY Cheese facility with HH

As mentioned. Burkes Grenade would be nice.

A collections of other material not used in the final cut.

Any behind the scene or VHS footage from:

• Prop department building ships etc.

• Back stage from the dressing department with all clothing etc.

• Footage when filming the marines in the hive.

• When constructing the LV-426. I have seen lots of rare stills here that could also be included.

• Weapons demonstration. I had a friend that a long, long time ago when the laser disc was released claimed that he had seen test footage when they test fired the Marine guns and who hoped that it would be on the disc. One was probably the clip on Youtube with the M41 but if there is similar with the smart gun or flamers would be nice to see.

Also:

Higher resolution on pictures showing all space ship, vehicle, weapon blueprints etc. I have come across a rather interesting bunch of them not show on any DVD editions.

A higher quality images of continuation polaroids for the whole film and not just the first part as seen on the current DVDs.

All early drafts and script re-writes, don’t remember exactly but there are at least two early re-writes and one draft that should be out there.

Raid all collectors to track down unpublished material.

.....why bother doing a list... take it all..

If I come up with something more Ill post it later :)

Edit: Both Ridley Scott and as remember J. Cameron had written specific character sheets to the actors about their roles, 2-3 pages long. These would be great to read.

Also the projector showing the information of the Sulaco Crew in the ICC hearing would be nice to see in detail, uncut and on paper.
