The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Great stuff WY.

I'd be very happy with that as it is.

Don't think you want it too brown.

As for the Nostromo on the back, I'd go for a light green.
Maybe similar to the 'Pistachio' green of the T shirts.

A few PF Flyers on ebay UK.
Not the Bright white with red/black detail, like the Amazon ones, but a slightly cream white with light brown details.

Do they do black ones (Kane)?

Thanks! No, too brown is what I want to avoid... easy does it.

As for the PF Flyers - yes, they come in black too. I believe that model's called the "Sandlot".

W-Y,

Nice dye job, that looks very good -- thanks for the visual. Now we know the jackets can take dye. Excellent news.

Thanks also for the Kane jacket picture with blue lettering. If the letters are blue, I am thinking a teal blue would be something to consider; sort of a white-blue, but I guess a good color chart is needed.

Punkmarine, yes the balck PF Flyer hi-top is called the Sandlot.

cool stuff,
-Mac

Thanks, Mac. I'm pretty pleased with the outcome myself!

A little thought regarding the text - if the majority of "Nostromo crew members" around here are using the commercially available blue W-Y wing... why not try to match the colour of the wings and the text?

Just a thought... though I've been thinking about repainting my wings, making the blue areas more silvery... I dunno.

This is what the "Sandlot" sneaks look loke, btw...

It would make a fine Kane shoe, no doubt. Though I'm not sure I will make a pure "Kane" uniform anymore. The jacket will be of the Kane style - those lacing panels down the front of Dallas' jacket look a bit weird and patchy IMO - but I'm kinda partial to the white sneakers... goes better with the shirt and pants, methinks...

I was trying to do a set of silver wings and after several attempts this is what I came up with.

Image

I'm still not too happy with the results and the thought of doing another set for my shirt does not thrill me at all. LOL!

Randy, you tease, you... I like the shape of those wingtips - the same upward-bent shape as in the movie.

I understand from your post that these take an effort to make... but just as with your accurized Nostromo patches, I believe there'd be interest in a run...

Randy, pretty nice 1st run on the silver wings -- silver is a tough color to work with and have it stand out, it really gets dominated by the white.

Thanks for sharing your efforts.

You can forget about Kane wearing sneakers, their some sort of tactical or combat boot.

Looking through the bonus features there is a quick scene from the chest buster sequence showing his feet kicking.

also Nostromo on jackets.

Excellent pic! I always thought his boots looked a bit bulky and greenish for a pair of sneakers on those grainy publicity stills, but here we have it. Thanks!

As for the rest of the uniform, I might have a very accurate custom shirt underway... will disclose more once there's anything to... disclose...

8) I really look forward to this.
The white uniform is something I just can't imagine being able to make myself (unlike Randy's brilliant set).
Might just get a pilot shirt and some white pants (bdu/combats preferably). :?

Heres a larger pic of the boot with the saturation removed so the detail can be seen.

Image

This was the sharpest image I was able to cap.
It is all leather.

Not sure if it's the lighting or perhaps they re-dyed them but the top of the shoe has some green in it.

These boots are interesting. From the look of them, I'd say they're some kind of work/civilian boots, judging from the moc toe - something you don't see on military footwear that often. Could that be a Vibram sole?

It wouldn't surprise me if they were British. Something for you guys over in Blighty to research... :)

Well I just spent 3 hours doing screen caps only to hit the wrong button and erase them all.
Damn program dumps them if you hit stop instead of pause.

Probably lost about 300 or more.

Anyway until I do it all over again, the soles of the shoes can be seen in the fight with Ash and also Ripley descending a ladder right before she finds Dallas in the Directors Cut.

Tan with a small heel.

From pix already posted and doing caps I would say the shoes where painted and as filming progressed it flaked off.

Anyway Maybe I will try again tomorrow.

Hard to tell without a closer look but the soles of some of those boots make me wonder...

There are clearly some hi leg boots there. Even though they are white, the soles are showing black on the tread. Perhaphs where a coat of white paint has worn off?
That tread pattern is pretty standard on our issue combat boots.

The tread is tan, the black you are seeing is just dirt.
Although a few pix do look painted white in the bottom.

The shoes themselves where painted white, as I mentioned before the paint is flacking off as the movie progresses.

The close up of Dallas' shoe in the infirmary next to the acid blood looks to have a yellowish color where the paint is cracked and flaking.

Going back through the pix again it does seem that Ripley's have white paint in the recessed areas in some scenes but the tan tread is still showing where Ash's are just tan.

Oddly in the scene of her going down the ladder I capped about 6 pix and some look white and some tan.
The white may just be light reflection off the smooth (clean) part of the shoe.

As mentioned by someone else there may have been a flat soled shoe used by some of the others.

Looking at the scenes with Ripley/Dallas and Ripley/Parker.

Check out this side pic of Ripley's shoe on the bridge.
Red and Black(?) stripes and notice the 3 grommets.
