The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Guess I should step up and sound like I've got a... Erm. Sorry, wrong movie.

Anyways. Name's Jerome, from France originally, currently residing in green and wet Ireland, town of Athlone. I've been a fan of Alien since I first saw it (I was 8 - my parents were cool like that!), and even more afterwards with Aliens. By the way, as far as I'm concerned, my own official storyline stops right before Gorman pops the grenade. Vasquez does NOT die, dammit!

Yeah, so I have a thing for kickass girls with big guns and an attitude. :o Come on, fess up - who else had a crush on her, mmh?

Anyways. I'm now nearing 33, and nowhere close to being responsible or even sensible. After checking out some Aliens-related stuff on the web, I ended up here, and also at Spat's, FNG's and Matsucorp... And I started salivating seriously. There goes my retirement fund! :D

My problem is, I'm useless with my hands. Can't build, can't paint... I tried propping some years back and ended with shapeless blobs of unidentified blobbiness. Fortunately, there are people out there who make stuff for us useless buggers! Thank you, thank you!

So, here I am, hoping than within a few weeks of financing, I'll have a full costume. Not quite as glamorous as making it myself, I know... In the meantime, I intend to enjoy the community I've seen here, cause you all seem to be good people (Yes, even the Brits. Just kiddin'! :P ), and pester y'all with questions about this and that. Hope you don't mind, mmh?

Soon-to-be-Marine Frenchy signing off.

Hi all,

As I'm coming up to this little shindig in Leicester at the weekend, i thought it was well beyond time to introduce myself...

My name's Andy Preston, 35, and from Ilminster in Somerset. I'm a member of the Exe-Wing Fundraisers with Mantroon, Clanger68, Bazfish and others, and help to organise our annual Star Wars Day event in Honiton. I've been a fan of the Alien movies since first release and I've enjoyed seeing the costume and prop displays at the London Film & Comic Con, and of course our own show last March.

This weekend I will mostly be wearing a thrown-together Lieutenant outfit as a member of the UKCM, but don't worry I aim to go easy on all the grunts!

See y'all at the weekend,

Andy

Hi, My name is Shawn Caldwell. The waynesmanners name is one I used to join the BOTB Batman board and it seems to stick with all the ez boards. I am also a member of the League of Heros and Alter Egos sites. I enjoy putting together costumes and props although aside from the occasional Halloween party I don't dress. I also build and paint model kits (garage kits) professionally and occasionally write for the hobby mags.
I am 52 years young and a huge fan of the Alien/Predator franchises along with Hellboy and the Jeepers Creepers characters. I am in the process of putting together film accurate costumes of both.
I have just begun to attempt the USCM arena. I have a helmet, raw unpainted armor and am working on a replica tracker.
I will start my camo painting of the armor next week.
I have one question tho, if anyone can point me in the direction of obtaining an ab pad I would be most appreciative.
Also, straps and buckles or velcro for the armor? I would be interested in your opinions.
Sorry to jump in with two questions already and thanks for having me aboard!

I'm sorry, apparently I offered too much info and being a comic costume fan I should have more respect for the USCM fans that make up this board. I spent 6 hours scoping thru the archives to answer my own questions and just gain a bit of knowledge as far as this board is concerned! You folks , on the average are not interested in model builds as much as film correct armor and you strive to be movie accurate where I am happy to just get close. I apologize for posting model pics a you like the 1: 1 stuff.
I just want to try and resemble the armor and side items as opposed to feeling like I have to be exact, no offense to the folks that feel that they have to have movie accurate costume props, hell....more power to ya. I just don't have the money or the time!
I got a Motion Tracker model kit from an Ebay seller a year or so ago. It was part of a deal for a trade. I received a motion tracker kit...(but it was broken on the side where the keypad should be)...any help? , an alien teeth resin replica, a resin replica of a Star Wars pistol ( a really bad resin casting)
and a resin copy of the "turtle" creature from "ENEMY MINE, came with the trade. Now I found out that the site no longer sells the MT and that my busted up copy is one of the last that they sold. It is a resin model, with very thin resin on the
transformer side. It was unfortunate but as I was taking it out of the box I saw that the entire side was cracked, it had been cast in extremely thin resin! I plan to rebuild it and thanks to the archives I think I will be successful.
Again, sorry for rambling!

Hi guys,

my names Andy one of the mad UKG mob involved in the Aliens do last weekend. :D

Spent most of time chewing on you crunchy Marines as one of the four Aliens and got to wear the Alien wars suit too.

Had a real blast talking to some of you guys and now am seriously considering doing an Alien warrior myself.

Just need to know a good source of the bits for this costume so any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Andy

Suppose I better jump in here. Long time lurker, and a member of the Hunters Lair. We originally found this place when looking for info on building a bug suit last year.

Even now, our spare space is filled with bits of bug and hunters.

Always wanted a pulse rifle for display, and was even tempted to get full marine kit (a bit easier to wear than a pred), and after the weekend in Leicester, I'm sure temptation will get the better of me sooner rather than later.

I recently got my airsoft version of the PR and wanted to get a Derrick Baena Pulse Rifle Manual as well... do any of you guys know if he's still selling them? haven't had much success searching in the other threads... thanks...

Hello everyone,
My name is Benton Tyler and live close to Birmingham, Alabama. I've been wanting to put together a suit of armor and pulse rifle for a while, and now that I'm finally out of college it's finally a real possibility. I've been reading over the forums and trying to learn the best way to put together the PR, armor, and accessories. I want to make sure what to expect in terms of an investment, so if you wouldn't mind helping me out a little, drop me a message. Up until now I've just built smaller model kits and Aliens from Legos, so this is a big step up for me. In any case, I'm glad to be a forum member.

Hello!

I'm Rex Adams, been a veteran movie costumer for several years, primarily Star Wars- Boba Fett, LOTR etc. On thedentedhelmet, I go by Bountys Hunted

I hung out here awhile back, but circumstances got in the way and I wasn't able to spend the time here I would have liked to of...

Anyhow, Chris (FNG USCM)
got me all jazzed to go to my first DragonCon and I cannot wait! It's been a raggedly crappy year for me relationshipwise and this will be a great event I can finally go to.

I've been going crazy checking out all the links Chris sent me, and have gotten a few things lined up- Armor, bdu's (not quite the screen-accurate ones, but pretty darn good ones) a buddy is loaning me some of his gear, including his pulse rifle, so that will help my expenses out.

I'm still searching for patches and a few other items...and looking forward to meeting and hanging out with you guys!

take care all,

-Rex
