The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

just curious, is the left side of the helmet next?
or is it already in the works?

sorry if I'm jumping the gun.

Patience. Let's finish the right side first.

The left side is easier in my opinion.

Truth.

Matt, will you be able to make a print of the vented part that the cone goes under?

Yes.

I'm using all found parts with 3d prints and some

scratch build blending in between.

Here's a little detail of the week:

Need to do a diagram of the basic cut outs.

With Gio's help, we'll have an easy template for people to

cut out there helmets.

Gio,

Would you have a chance to fill in these dimensions?

The idea is that their will be a template for all users to fit parts
into.

We are collecting original pieces to help you repair some

of the missing parts.

I've been away for a few months and come back to this gem of a topic, after all your work, it appears that this just could be the "easiest" alien prop to make. When I think of all the time I spent just looking at the pictures trying to workit all out.
This is the premier prop site on the net, well done guys ( and girls, gotta be PC)

I'm loving the way this has all unfolded!
It's great when things seem to just jump out to you.

Can't belive I've had the polaroid parts sitting here for years without even realising it! lol

Screws are 2-56 size.

Had some spare parts and converted a part to send to a buddy.

Fun still, but taking too long.

I've had a lot of non-prop stuff going on in my life recently, hopefully will be getting back to putting some time into this project in a few weeks :)

Finally got another Trigon kit.

I think we raised the prices for these kits!

Here's my donation kit to Gio to repair the originals.

Well, it's not a canon brain-bucket, but I've got an HGU-26 dual visor tht I was planning on using. Why? Bcause I can, and I just heppen to like the tape job I did on it.

Here's the first pass.

Takes 3-4 versions to get everything dialed in.

Gio, need a little help on a few measurements.

I'm on my third pass, and it is looking really nice.

The tricky one is C. Some picts look like there is a step, the side

pict looks flush.

And PM coming.

I wonder what, if anything was stuck to the area between your A & B lines there Matt, it definitely looks like something broke off - there seems to be a ring of paint around the area and you can see the original surface of the part underneath. My best guess is that it's the same piece as the top one on that rectangular block.

It's odd that both helmets have this though, although it can't be ruled out that it's just a coincidence that the same piece came off both helmets.
