The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Definitely one group. After all it's only one movie, right? :)

Hey! I've actually been in 3 DragonCon Parades over the years, including the very first one, when it was Star Wars costumes only.

And since the Marines have only marched in 4 DragonCon parades, I'm doing better than average!

And if you guys really really wanted me there, you'd come to my room, dress me in my gear, and then carry me through the parade on a stretcher like I ask you to do every year. If you're lucky, I may even wake up at some point and wave to the crowd.

We'll have a colour party for the parade this year, so we need a representative from each of the CM groups to carry his flag.

We've officially marched in 5 parades. There were 12 of us in 2003 and it was actually Chris' idea at the last minute to register us. We've done it every year since.

I only remember you showing up in gear for two of them.

Mantroon are you taking over my job this year?

I usually register us for the parade. Jan Price who is the number 2 person for the parade usually emails the registration form around late July.

I see no reason why we shouldn't be one huge group. We've had numbers in the past in the mid twenties. This year should be enormous! :D

Even if we are registered separately- we will be lumped together in the USCM/AvP section of the parade (last year we had actually done it enough times to warrant our own section :D ). So there shouldn't be any worry of us being split up in different sections of the parade group (don't quote me on that though  ).

By the way if you UK folk are used to actually marching in step... You'll be in for a wee bit of a shock at how we treat the parade.

I'll be marching this year though. 8)

Blah. I was close. 4, 5. Whatever. I've still marched in 3 DragonCon Parades, 2 as a Marine.

If anything, blame DragonCon. Last year they had me hosting a panel during the parade because some other panelist canceled out at the last minute. My armor was there, it just couldn't make it to the parade with me in it.

And Mantroon, which was the easy way and which was the hard way? Oddly enough, they both sound fun to me!

One group, definately.
I'll be honored to march with the ranks of the UKCM.....damn honored.
But in all truthfulness......I'm damn honored to be marching along any and all Colonial Marines regardless :)

Ok then- you're familiar with how the USCM "marches" in the parade.

And please call me Kevin. :)

This year should totally ROCK!

I can't volunteer - it's not a week before the con yet. :D

I'm pretty sure if no one volunteers before hand you'll get people lining up for it just before the parade.

I've flown the flag before so its time to let someone else have the honor. But if no one steps up I'll happily fly the flag.

I've already discussed with Dom that I would volunteer to carry the USCM flag/standard this year. I'll be in my Dress Blues for the parade.

So to make up a cool looking Colour Guard we need three people to carry each countries respective flags: USA, UK and Canada.

In order to have some continuity we would like the flag bearers to at least have Gorman style Service C uniforms. Of course if you are able/desire to put together a Dress Blues uniform all the better!

See, now I'm tempted to work out some form of British Regimental Service Dress for the UKCM...

Grmph. What am I, chopped liver?

No, no, don't answer that. :P

Well, I doubt I'd be able to put together a Gorman or Dress Blue, unless they come in a ready package, considering how late I am at everything else already. So maybe no French flag for the parade...
Let me think about it.

OK... I'll bring mine anyway in case someone forgets to bring it. Do you have a flag-pole?

We have you in Blues and myself and Phil in Service C... so unless someone else comes in Service C (hopefully Wookie Gunner is coming back) we'll have marines in BDUs... I would suggest no armour for colour party.

101Radioman wrote:

As mentioned previously, anyone in Service C or Blues will have priority... if not, a screen accurate and clean BDU.

Luinsar wrote:

Bro, I would LOVE to see the Tri-Colore flown alongside the Union Jack, and the Maple Leaf... as far as I'm concerned, seeing my flag flown with those of the founders of my country... I'd be damned honoured to see it!

Whoever's bringing a flag, please bring a real flag pole... no broom-sticks will be permitted here. If you can't get one, please let me know.

What size flag and flagpole? I need to bring some longish objects anyways so I'll probably have a chance to bundle a flagpole with that, at least if they come in collapsible. Otherwise, I might ask you to bring one for me and I'll pay you when I arrive.

But first I need to decide if I can do this or not.

It'd be nice to have those four flags side-by-side, wouldn't it? :)
