The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Okay gang,

Been talking to Paul who is running the Terrorwerks mission.

So if we do a colony sweep, we can hand out fliers for his game, and he would need Marine NPCs as well as people willing to be the Aliens.

Woot! This weekend is fast approaching!

I've officially finished my A-wing pilot costume... if only the RL website was working, I would submit it. But I'll be wearing that half of Saturday, then USCM the second half.

I'm just not happy with the way Mega is set up. Bad enough I can't make it on Friday until 2am, but to pick up a pre-purchased ticket (it's just an armband in a plain envelope, it's not like D*con with paperwork and computers) it took me 45 minutes last year. 45 minutes!

Of course I laugh. Took me 45 minutes to get ticket, 1 1/2 hours to get Jamie Bamber's autograph, and 45 minutes to get lunch. That's 3 hours! And the line for "on-site" ticket buying was spread a literal mile. Seriously, people know about the con for about a year ahead of time.... damn anime slackers.

Oh yeah, "The Kilted One" will be there. I'll tell him hi.

I'm now regretting not doing USCM all day. Just got attitude from the friendly neighborhood Rebel leadership that "We always wear SW costumes, all day long, 24/7, and you don't so don't judge us" just because I asked why the RL leadership wasn't going to wear their costumes...

Why do I do Star Wars costuming again?

I used to Cosplay so I'm holding my tongue.

You think Star Wars rivet-counters are bad? Try experiencing Florida anime cosplayer drama, lol. There's a REASON I stopped.

*edit* Not saying EVERYONE'S like that, just that the ones who are make up for everyone else, hehe.

I retired my B-Wing for just that reason. Sad but true. Makes me love the Corps even more.

What's this about Saturday NIGHT? Will Terrorwerks be running late after the con? Chris and Chris, you're planning to change from Spartan to Marine at some point, then?

The info at the start of this thread says to check the megacon site for scheduling, but I can't find any. Terrorwerks is described but no signup or sched.

I am "working" the Terrorwerks Saturday night. Normally we (SubRosa or MindGames or whatever we call ourselves this year) run 1 Friday night Cthulhu Live game and 1 Saturday night one. Well Terrorwerks will instead be on a 1 hour rotation daily starting Friday (sometime, sorry I don't have an exact time).

45 minutes (maybe less if players get eaten) of game and some "reset" time to get things back to normal.

So as I have been told... If we want to hand out fliers for the game at the con... we get a free game.

Well "you" get a free game. Profiler and myself will be NPCs, most likely the Sarge to lead people on the mission.

Chris: Yeah. I understand the desire for people to wear other costumes... but the CO and XO of a base need to be dedicated to the RL (not the 501st of which they are also members, not BSG, not etc) especially for Megacon which is a big one for Florida. I miss the days of Lum and Herm. :(

I really am only trooping to go to SWW. Disney ain't cheap...

I'm not packing my USCM gear this year. No room in the car with airport pickups and no real time. Chris is in the same boat having shipped his 300 gear down. So no Christophers in the game this year. Unless of course you want Spartans

So all USCM in attendance should report for adventure when? :)

I ask because I was planning on being in another costume for the bulk of Saturday and need to figure out when/how/if to change.

Mission Report:

Myself and Profiler recced the area, met up with Terrorwerks. We were allowed to play for free the 11am mission... mind blowing really!

We then helped out reloading the G36 clips and setting up for the next missions.

1pm I acted as platoon Sargeant and led a doomed group of souls through the MineraTek mining station.

Met up with Sean aka Romeo. Reporting him for dereliction of duty and not having the proper uniform or weaponry on.

Also met up with Treadwell, who went on a very successful mission.

I will let said Marines give their own reports.

All in all, I played once and ran about 3 groups through the scenario. Very fun, very intense.

We did not get pictures, but Terrorwerks did and they will be sending them on to me sometime later.

Onoes, I'm on report!

Wasn't expecting to be able to go this year but that ended up changing, so I dropped by with some friends for a bit. I ran through the TerrorWerks game once, and had so much fun that I came back and volunteered to help them run the game as one of the monsters for the rest of the afternoon. I haven't had that much fun in I don't know how long. Btw Treadwell - you were in the 5 PM group, right? The monster that came after you during that big rush at the end was me!

Oh, btw, gotta share this highlight of the afternoon: the 4 PM group that went through was a private group comprised mostly of Asian girls in Anime french maid costumes. Anime girls get guns, get sent into creepy derelict space station funhouse, space alien tentacle monsters come out of the walls and chase them around. HILARITY ENSUES.

All in all, it was a pretty good day.

Yup, that was me at 5pm Saturday! I had a BLAST. More detailed report to come later!

(hey, I need to update my ribbons! I'm tempted to submit that Terrorwerks runthroughs count as drops. ;) )

Well Megacon would count as a drop...

But if Terrorwerks counted as drops I would get 3 more. Yeah let's do that!

...successful in that we left no one behind but mutated monsters. But the station went kablooey! The Company will have some words for us on that one, I'm sure.

And I think I might have accidentally cheated by losing count of the hits I took. I might've taken my third one during the final rush, I'm not sure.

But it was great! My in-character report:

====
Our GYSGT divided us into two teams of about 6 Marines each, Red and Blue, and put me in command of Blue. Armed medics were part of both teams, and there was an engineer available to either.

After a safety briefing and requisitioning, we piled into our dropship and received instructions from Sarge while en route to a scientific research station in orbit of some planet or other. Seems their work had gone wrong somehow and we were to see to the safe evacuation of surviving personnel. A couple of Suits were tagging along to ensure there would be no undue loss of Company property...and probably wander into the line of fire a lot. Sometimes I wonder if the term "Precious Cargo" is overused.

The second we boarded the station a freaked-out scientist confronted us with a sidearm, not knowing friend from foe. I managed to convince him to surrender the weapon, but he was still scared to death and wanted us to take him out of there immediately. But we had a mission to complete, of course. Sarge got a key from him and we were able to open the door out of that small chamber and proceed into the station.

We entered a hallway with an open room to the right. The station seemed to be on low power as the lighting was dim, but we could still see that human remains were scattered about. What the hell had they been up to in this place?

The side room had a door on the far bulkhead that the key would not unlock. The engineer set about cutting it open as Red team covered him. We Blue covered another sealed door at the end of the hallway.

Against my instructions, the hysterical scientist followed us in and continued to whine about all of us getting out of there. In my head I named him Hudson.

Red got through the door and were immediately assaulted by a bunch of mutated freaks. They looked like they might've been human once, but now they wanted our blood. Blue stayed firm at our positions as Red handily put the monsters down. They secured the next room and found it to be a dead end. Our turn.

The lock on our door was damaged so our engineer did his thing. We got inside, and, sure enough, more freaks. We managed to eradicate them with no losses.

We found ourselves in a room with an elevated podium and a couple of tables, one with an active terminal. I was able to poke around the status of the station's main systems and found that the reactor core was overloading. I tried to shut it down remotely but it didn't work. Looking over my shoulder, Sarge determined that the core's cooling rods had been removed.

By now we began to realize that the low hum we'd been hearing was getting louder. Holy shit, that's the reactor melting down! We needed to find those rods, fast.

Oh, and the environmental systems? Failing. Hoo-rah.

(to be continued)

It was great to run into everyone! The flight to and from was a pain, but I enjoyed my first time in Florida.

I didn't have room for my USCM gear. I pretty much did BSG. Here are some pics.

(continued)

The room exited onto a gantry that enabled one to cross over a snarl of tech spaghetti. At the far end it made a right turn into a long room with more tables, debris and remains scattered about. I asked the engineer what these cooling rods looked like, and he said he wasn't sure but he'd know them when he saw them. Soon, someone found a long silver cylinder and he confirmed it was one of them.

A room opened up on the right side, where Red team removed more mutant threats.

At the far end of the long room was the door to the reactor room, the final unexplored area of the station. It was also sealed, so the engineer got it open. Blue took point this time, and we secured the room with no threats. The overloading reactor sat in the center of the room, and it was apparent where the rods needed to go. As I recall we had two rods by that time and they were put in place. Sarge somehow surmised we had five minutes to restore the rest of them before the reactor blew.

I left two members of Blue to guard the reactor as the rest of us set about searching the station for more rods. As I exited the reactor room, I saw one of the Company suits giving orders to my troops, sending them ahead of him back across the catwalk!

I caught up and he and I had words about who was in command of my team. (The point that he sent them exactly where I was about to take them being a minor one to my way of thinking.)

We returned to the room with the podium, where my team was having a hell of a time with another group of freaks. Once the smoke cleared, we were left with two wounded marines. Two casualties that might not have happened if they hadn't been sent ahead without me. Our medic set about her work, and I reloaded her spent weapon for her.

We then hurriedly set about looking for more rods. I found one in the podium and sent someone to deliver it to the reactor room. We backtracked further to the first rooms we cleared and found one more item that might have been a rod, although it wasn't silver. I sent it back to the reactor room anyway.

We then returned to the long room past the catwalk and did some more searching. Eventually I returned to the podium room again, and, foolishly, alone. I was swarmed by more mutants, one even crawling out from under the podium riser, and took my first hit as my magazine emptied. I ran from them as I reloaded, and by that time others joined the fight and helped put the monsters down.

I started to return down the catwalk, only to find our entire group coming toward me. There was still one more missing rod but it couldn't be found, and time was just about out. I got confirmation that we hadn't stranded anyone, and I rather tardily declared that the station was toast and everyone should evacuate on the double; everyone was way ahead of me on that one.

I took the rear and we hightailed it back to the room we had first entered. One more door to our ship.

Then all hell broke loose.

Creatures swarmed out of every crevice and we all opened up. One by one our people boarded our ship as the rest of us dropped one mutant after another. I took another hit. Sarge got cornered and took hits, telling us to move on. But a marine managed to drag him out and we all got to the ship and launched about a half-second before the station exploded.

We were bloodied, but we took no losses and rescued all survivors. Okay, the Company is minus one research station. From what was taking place in there, that's probably for the best.

End report.
