The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Spat, Steve, Kevin, Christian, Spat, Springer and all the other guys and… Spat, it was really a clueless newbie mistake, please accept my apologies for being the source of all this mess…
And a suggestion, other fan forums have a special "Buy & Sell" area so members can pawn their goods, buy from other affiliates and post EBay auctions.

From the site FAQ... (y'all read this, right? ;) )

http://forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic.php?t=2599

Quote:
7. No posting sales of "runs" unlicensed items - Anything sold by members is done so at their own risk. If you have an "item from your personal collection" that you want to sell, feel free to post it, or put a note for people to "contact you for more information." If you are selling your personal item on eBay, feel free to post a link to YOUR auction.

DO NOT POST LINKS TO ACTIVE AUCTIONS THAT YOU ARE NOT THE OWNER OF.

The only exception to this rule is an item that claims to be screen used (a pulse rifle for example) and you want a clarification/second opinion. If the item being sold is a "found item" that was used in the films (such as a Racal headset, alarm box, Gerber Knives, stedicam arms, etc...), feel free to make an offer of a group buy.

And no, Pulse Rifles are NOT found items. ;)

Subsection...

Quote:
Q: Can I post or advertise auctions on the board?
A: Auctions (active or pending) may only be posted provided you comply with the following community rules:

Either:

(A) You are the seller, or...
(B) You know that the "screen used" item in question is a
fake and the item in question is not part of a larger auction of items (for instance, the seller claims a helmet being sold is screen used is part of an auction of vaccuformed helmet, armor, rifle, etc. ), or...
(C) The auction has ended. OR...
(D) The item is a regularly offered item in an eBay store.

If you decide to post an auction that does not meet the above criteria the post will be removed or edited to comply with the board policy.

And from another recent thread...

Quote:
The main reason for this policy is the fact that yes, we DO
receive visits from people associated with Fox studios from time to
time.

It's by their good graces that we exist at all.

Found items are fine and dandy thing to offer blatent runs of,
such as Gerber knives or racal headsets, etc.

Things like screen seen/designed patches and other items are
more in the grey area. Better to err on the side of caution.

No need to apologize to me. Personally, I would have preferred that the price got driven up higher in an all out auction bidding war.

I just know the rules, and figured someone was going to call you on it sooner or later, may as well be me!

It lets the moderators think that I've actually read the forum's rules (I haven't).

Personally, I think that price was a steal! That suit looked to me to be in unissued condition. With a couple of small upgrades, that would be a pretty sweet suit.

Just needs new legs, a shoulder upgrade (which I have instructions on how to do on the website), and maybe a new ab pad (my new ab pads are made of a much nicer material), and you'd be all set!

I usually will say "Go to eBay and search 'Flying monkey bats' and look on page 3", if it's not my auction.

And honestly... I was one of the first to read the auction. It was $150 opening bid and if I hadn't been in a hurry would have bid on it, thus eliminating the BiN price and fellow forum members would have all bid on it, causing the terrible bidding war, and hurt feelings.

If we weren't an "open forum" where people could just read posts I would say we should set up a subforum to *warn* board members about auctions. Like "Sarge is bidding on this Pulsemeter, do not bid (unless price goes above $X or else!"

See, if I knew Sarge was bidding on something, that would MAKE me want to out bid him. Even if it was something I didn't need or want.

But that's just me.

And Spat wonders why I never bought a set from him.

Feel the love.

What are you talking about, Kev? I outbid you on items BECAUSE you won't buy armor from me.

What an evil cycle we've created.

Oh well, chicken and egg, and all that.

:)

The only problem with that is non AL members lurk here and if we had a 'don't bid against me unless price is x' subforum then the lurker will know how much the other person is going to bid.

Robocop, no big deal. I even did it once on the RPF. I found by big chance an original prop that was being sold for scrap ($50) and posted it because iwas not into the movie. I got a beatdown:) With that said people here are very laid back and cordial so it was just a 'heads up' and from the sounds of it you got the message so ...no biggie.

When the armor does arrive, I would really love it if you posted the armor number from inside the chest. I'm just curious how old the suit really is.

If you don't want to post it, you can PM or e-mail it to me.

Just got it today MOI#44

I know who owned it. I keep detailed files.

But I don't get upset when they sell their suits, it just adds one more Marine to our ranks!
