The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Has anyone officially ID'd the shirt and trousers worn by Gorman in the Aliens film?

I'd like to get something up together but info is scarce (Harry has a nice picture in his Archives) and I need to know if it was modded from a 'found' item.

A LOT of the gear used in the movie is Vietnam Issue surplus - for example, the marines' boots, and the green caps worn by Gorman, Drake, and Apone at different times in the movie. Gorman's uniform is most likely a set of the olive drab BDUs worn by the troops in Vietman with some minor modifications.

Gonna have to take a closer look at some of the footage to be sure. Anyone else care to check me on that?

I can't get to the collection until the beginning of February at the earliest as it's all in storage at the moment, but the shirt looks bespoke. There's no army label in it and the stitching inside looks rough enough to suggest that it was made for the film.

If someone reminds me in a couple of months I'll take another look at it and post a couple of photos if necessary.

Harry

Nice 'charlie' and well presented too!

I was looking more towards the OD version worn on the Sulaco and during the ill-fated mission on LV 426 though.

Here is a jacket I made from a vintage M56 field jacket. I took off the epilets and with the material I covered the ripper and added the velco and sewed the lines in the collar.
pretty easy.

Nice conversion on the Jacket, friend, but you do realise that Gorman is seen wearing an unmodified one in the film?

Check out the special edition - the bit where Gorman leaves the APC to enter the colony.

Nice work with the refitted M65 jacket, looks the part indeed.

As for the Gorman shirt seen above from Harry`s collection.
It certainly has the ripstop sort of look, of the Nam style shirts with collars altered to mandarin collars.

I dare say a Nam issued OD shirt with alterened collars would really work well then an OD M65 to round it all off (for outside work as he wore exiting the APC & entering the WY building on LV-426.

Harry, as it is now Februrary this is just a gentle reminder to check your storage when you get a chance. :D I'm also interested in Gormon style fatigues.

hi again,

making a search on the database, I found this post, and answered some of my dounts about Lt. Gorman's uniform.

As somebody mention, part of the "look" of the uniforms on the film are "NAM" look .... and we could find a 1/6 uniform from vietnam era, to customize Gorman on 1/6 .... but, what about the cap he's wearing; it was used in Vietnam too?

And what about the battle coat ....?
any idea of 1/6 suppliers that I could use?

thanks guys!

I did a quick and dirty LT 1/6th custom a few years back. Lt Dumas (who the troops would of course call Dumbass). Was a Dragon "Christian" body with vietnam era bdus from another Dragon figure. I had a hard plastic od baseball cap... don't know the make, model, etc about it. It's still in my garage somewhere with the rest of my Marines.

I am working on this costume now.

I have the hat that Tarim-rex posted. I am using a Vietnam Era Cotton Sateen fatigue shirt and pants. I will take pics of it tonight. It does not have the patches on yet though.

Tarim has the hat correct. It is a Vietnam-issue "Hot Weather Field Cap," same as Drake's.

Yeah, I ran out of fusion so I couldn't paint my VP. I will be doing that this weekend. I also see that I need to get a different belt. I need a green one with a black buckle. Gorman wears that with his field jacket. Otherwise I need a basic black belt for when he is on the Sulaco.

About fixing the collar. Does it need to be a madarin collar? If so, how do I fix that?
