The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Ok, bad news time.

The M1 Steel Pot helmets I've been using to make my helmets for these many years, have begun to become more and more rare in these last few months.

I used to be able to get them for $15 each, but now I'm paying $30, $40, and sometimes even more, and I can't seem to get them in bulk anymore. And trying to get liners with sweatbands that aren't chewed to hell, is becoming even tougher.

So, I have to raise the price of the helmets by $25 to compensate. I'm going to keep the full suit of armor price the same for now, the increase will only be on helmets by themselves. I'm hoping I won't have to raise it any more than that, and I'm hoping I can keep the full armor price from being increased.

I'm also going to be giving a discount of $40 if someone sends in their own Steel Pot to be modified.

And, of course, if anyone knows a place that sells M1's cheaper, let me know! PLEASE!

The price change will take effect on February 1st, 2008.

The helmets are made of lead?

Seriously?

So when you cut into one of these- you run the risk of lead poisoning without the proper protective gear such as a respirator mask?

Heck, you can get lead poisoning just from touching uncovered lead!

Well I always believed they were steel- didn't think they were lead (isn't lead a little too soft a metal for a helmet?).

Anyway if they are lead- it certainly means you should take every precaution possible when converting an M1 helmet into a USCM bucket.

Not that you shouldn't if they are steel anyway.

And I haven't raised the price yet. You have until February 1st before the price goes up. I always try to give a little bit of a warning before I raise the prices.

Mmmm... lead helmets. Want to lick the lead helmet...

Like I said, I'll take $40 off the price of a modified helmet if you send your own Steel Pot. Of course, this only counts on orders that take place after the price change.

:)

Yep.

And the fact that most electrical cords have a lead based exterior.

It was just a joke, referencing all the lead scares on products out of China over the past year. I know we spend a lot of time on AL, but hey, read the news sometimes...
note emoticon on above post  It was meant to be a joke

Ah. I missed that one.
Not heard about any lead stories over here...

Just for future reference  makes it easier to see it's a joke.

Ok, good news and or bad news (depending on where you want to look).

Thanks to Matt, our own Guardian Matsuo (or whatever the Witness Protection Program calls him this week), I was able to find a new supplier that has the helmets (for now), and is offering them for a comparable price to what I was getting them for previously.

So, that means that the price of the Spat Helmets will be staying the same! No price increase at this time!

Now, get back to work!
