The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Pfft. I do Maple Syrup shots for fun.

Hey... walking from my hotel to the D*con 07 hotel in uniform, someone asked if the USCM stood for United States Canadian Mounties.

In real life, I am graduated in engineering... unless I am mistaken, if I'd join the army I'd start off as a senior officer.

Should I consider having my serial number made with the rank of major?

Also, are there still dogtags available somewhere?

Well... Officers are a funny thing. We don't usually have them.

Now an officer wouldn't necessarily wear armor, etc. Just wear BDUs maybe the overjacket and get talked about behind his back.

I can't imagine why an officer wouldn't wear armour.
All our's wear the same armour as the rest of us. Officers making good target's and all...

From the point of view of the Technical Manual, the TO&E of a USCM platoon shows the L-T as staying in the APC coordinating the team from there. He wouldn't necessarily have to remain in body armor when he is in there.

Ah, I haven't read the technical manual.
If he's in the APC then sure, there's no need for armour.

I'd never trust an officer that didn't get out in the action with his troops. :)
Besides, as a SNCO it's my squadron anyway... he's just fronting the paperwork! lol

Well the movie itself depicted Gorman as remaining in the APC monitoring everything remotely.

It wasn't until he declared that the colony was secured that he left the comfort of the APC to join the troops.

Kinda reminds me of Darth Vader entering the Tantive 4 after the place had been shot to pieces... Only Vader was fearsome.

I have no clue why I just made that comparison.
