The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Post subject: Looking For a Complete Pulse Rifle
PostPosted: Thu Jan 17, 2008 4:57 am

Alright,

I've decided to sell off most of my prize horror mask collection. I am doing this because I think that it's worth it to be able to finally get my hands on a real pulse rifle. Normally, I do not think that I would be able to shell out enough money for one, but because I am getting all of this money from my masks, it should be fine.

So, I am looking for a true Pulse Rifle replica here. One made from a kit with the thompson, etc. I am also looking for it to be complete.

If you are interested, please let me know.

Thanks.

Not to many real steel pulse rifles go up for sale. It may be a while before you get any offers. If you can't wait, acquiring all the parts separately and either building it yourself or paying someone to build it for you will get you quicker results. There are lots of really cool and helpful folks here that have resources for metal PR parts. Just my $.02

I haven't added it up myself lately, but I believe the general cost of all the necessary parts to build a real-steel Pulse Rifle (de-milled) put it in the $1200-$1500 range, with smart shopping habits. However, with the rarity of several of the items needed... that price could jump a little.

If you can build it yourself, all the remaining cost comes down to your time and effort.

However, to find one completed... I think you'd be lucky to find anyone willing to part with their real-steel Pulse Rifle for under $2500. Even that price point might be a little bit optimestic.

The last couple of SD Studios Pulse Rifles up for sale traded hands at between $3800 and $4500. I believe the last one I saw up for sale was asking $5000. I'm not sure if it had sold for that price though. I believe all SD Studio Pulse Rifles came with some sort of letter of authenticity and one of Derrick Baena's M41-A manuals. As for the total number of these Pulse Rifles produced, I've heard numbers varying between as few as 10 and as many as 30, which might attribute for their increasing value.

Personally, I'd rather build. But for me the building process is half the fun, so that might not be the same for everyone.

I hope some of those numbers help you to gauge things a bit before handing over your hard-earned cash from liquidated assets.

Would you folks say the best way for a beginner to build an impressive pulse rifle is with one of those airsoft conversion kits you see floating around once every couple hundred years? Like the one from G&P?

Personally, I think the Spulse Rifle is the way to go for beginners.

But that's just me.

Hell, if I can build, fit a light and sound kit to and paint a Spulse, with almost zero model building or electronics experience, then ANYONE can do it! In fact it's the first prop kit I've ever built.

Just get yourself a Dremel, goggles and a decent dust mask. Trust me on that.

Getting a Spulse is not a bad idea, and if you don't want to build it yourself there are folks here that would be happy to help you in that regard and take care of the build and paint. And being Spulses are well priced you could conceivably get one, and then pick up an Airsoft or SD should one arise somewhere. This way you have one for display, and one that 'handling friendly' for the masses. (My personal plan)

However, if you really want a well made PR that's not resin you could always look into commissioning a build.

I definitely would be interested in finding someone to commission, but I am having a hell of a time registering on those forums.

If you happen to know anyone that you can direct me to, that would be great.

Thanks.

Why? Is that some obscure British holiday that no one outside of your little island ever heard of?

Nice one. Thanks for broadcasting an auction to drive up the price.

We don't do that around here unless it is your own auction or

the item listed is bogus.

Hit the "Contact Administrator" link at the bottom of the Matsucorp boards. That is Matsuo's email. He is a real nice guy and does phenomenal work. If I am not mistaken, he made the above black Alien 3 PR.
