The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'm with you Rip. 3 years is too short. I showed up in 2005 as well. I couldn't help but watch the DC 2005 montage video...

This morning I wrote 'FNG Forever' across my left shoulder pauldron as a permanent addition to my armour.

I'd be up for painting the whole thing black for D*Con when I come over too, think it's a great idea.

Wow, it's amazing how we Marines think alike. Pretty much every idea in this thread occurred to me today.

I'm definitely in for an armband, or pin, or both.

And I will be adding a tribute to my armor. And I don't even do the graffiti thing. Now I have a real good reason.

Just breaking silence to bring you some messages from Chris... that he has given fellow fallen soldiers.

Quote:
While I grieved for you then, thirty five years would pass before I would even come to know your name. Today, I do not grieve for you as I did then, nor as others who have no hope for the resurrection may still do. I believe that one day all this will come to pass, and that once more you will see the light of day. Until that day, when you awaken and are restored, you will surely live on in the memories of those who loved you, and cared for you, and perhaps even in the memories of those whose paths you crossed, if only briefly. Until that day ...

From someone who helped recover his helicopter and body,
Christopher Chulamanis

Quote:
Adios... Until That Day.

“Many will grieve for the loss of Pete, and for his family. For those who grieve for Pete... Do not sorrow for him just as the rest also do who have no hope of the resurrection. I do believe that on that day some may hear him, again, say, "Whoopie! I sure hope so. Adios Pete... until that day.

Sincerely,”

—Christopher Chulamanis

The flowers look great Dom.

Thanks again for sorting it.

It would be great if we can all do the same tribute. armband and pin sounds the best.

All can then participate.

Still gutted and I hardly knew Chris, can't imagine how his family and those who knew him well are feeling.

Andy.

That's a really nice idea, Kevin and well worth chipping in for.
I fourth the motion.

Dom, you've done an admirable job organising the card and flowers, and keeping us informed.

I just watched the D*C 2005 YouTube video.

I have just started teaching myself the Green Day song "Good Riddance" used in the video on the guitar.

I think I'll play it for him today as a tribute. If I can keep from crying.

That song was played at the funerals of both my Grandfathers.
I can't listen to it now without shedding a tear or two.

Chris is more than welcome to a third.

I remember cringing while watching and listening to that interviewer in the video back in November of 2005, and then immediately photoshopping this little number to sum it up...

Image

Chris really got a kick out of it, and then e-mailed me about the "speech bubble thing" wondering if it was a program or something. Had I not drawn it myself with Corel Photoshop, I have a funny feeling he would have been encouraged to come up with some of his own goofy cartoons based on our USCM adventures at DragonCon.

Lord knows we had plenty of them.

I "met" Chris over the phone, if that makes sense, I think this all started back in 1998/99. I had called to order one of his 1:6th USCM BDU and armor sets. I had just started collecting 1:6th stuff and I was super excited to see the 1:6th stuff Chris was producing. The perfect meld of my two favorite things.

As everyone else has said, Chris was very friendly and happy to talk to me, which I think we did for an hour or so. I kept telling him all the other stuff he should produce (like a raving fan boi  ) and he listened to it all, asking a few questions here and there. He seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say.

We talked a few other times over the years, always the same experience. And we traded even more emails on various things. He also molded and cast copies of a prop replica from another movie that I like, and I kept feeling so bad, thinking that I was asking so much of him. I always thanked him profusely and always tried to pay him...but he'd often turn that down.

And that's how Chris was. I hate the fact that I'll never get to meet him face to face, but I'm glad to have been his friend even if we only communicated through emails and phone calls.

He was a good man, he was my friend.

I found this place online. They have black elastic armbands with a clear pocket. Was thinking we could insert the memorial graphics or something and wear these. The nice thing is that we can wear these in our out of uniform. What do you guys think?

Dave & I would like to know who would be interested in an FNG Memorial Armband. For those who don't want to modify their armour, or simply those who'd like something additional...

No talk of cost for now, but should be around $5 or less, S&H incl.

Armband will have black elastic with image below.

Please copy & paste yourself into this list if you're interested.
