The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Why not make the deltas out of pewter or the like? Maybe brass like 40-60's US collar insignia

I just finished watching the Fifth Element and thought the military uniforms in this were similar to what is being discussed here.

My brain storm...

Waist length jacket, single breasted mandarin collar. 'Ike' jacket or Battledress jacket

Two tones, collar & shoulders darker than body

Mandarin collar with rank and/or gold leaves

Somewhat Star Trek, a lil SST perhaps.

Dropship over misc ribbons, UK/USCM & delta patches located same as bdu's

The Deltas have already been made- they are red, blue, and chrome for the white areas.

I guess you missed my opinion of "Ike" style jackets.

We are going with a look that upon first glance, greatly resembles a US Marines Dress Blues uniform, but with closer inspection is obviously not an actual USMC uniform. The Ike style jacket is unsuitable as the Marines use long tunics (we've already agreed on a non USMC jacket that is nearly identical anyway).

Another hot area of dispute with this project.

Please understand Kimelius that while your input is appreciated, we've been hammering out the design of this uniform for nearly 700 posts- and we've finally come to a concensus on the basic design. Your suggestions are a bit late in the game unfortunately.

That and the fact this project has severely suffered from three steps forward, two steps back.

I think it's simply because people are honestly into the idea enough that it sparks heated discussion, which is a good thing in my opinion. :)

Not sure if you knew or not, though the USAF is going to intorduce the new Dress Uniform,it`s of a very similar design/cut to the USMC Dress Blues.
Image

So there could be another option.

To me looks like a flashback to the old days, Early 20th century (pre & during WWI) for US Uniforms.

I agree about the sort of "vintage" look to them. I like it.

I think, initially, this was strayed away from due to how "blue" it was and the consensus was to stay with black or as dark as possible.

I'm not sure where everyone's line of thinking is now, however... this may be a viable option at this point.

Ok time for an update I guess.

Unfortunately after over a month, the Canadian Jacket supplier seems to have disappeared. Not cool.

I would be pretty leery about giving this guy a lump sum of our money only to have to chase him down later.

It has been suggested (through a PM) that we return to the original idea of using a USMC jacket. I'm open to this.

That is all for now Marines.

Let's do it.

Silver buttons.

Deltas (Derek, what's the update on those?)

Now back to the patch placement discussion? ;)
