The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

It's for attracting questions from Aliens fans. Works a treat.

Actually, they shot little yellow rubber bullets. We called them turtle condoms, and used these guns playing Killer in college

What they are or who what they do has never been officially explained. It could be that they were just dressing to fill out the Marine 'look' as it were.

Just Greeblies on the belt, something to look good and fill space.

Georgie Lucas is really good at making stuff up later to explain the function of things like this that are really jus tfor looks.

The same thing was modified and used on the smartgun, you see it when they hook back up after all the ammo is colloceted.

ARGHHHHHH!! i never wanted to hear that quote ever again. drove me insane trying to place it. :(

as for the belt tool, i always liked the idea that it was a small back-up charger for the electronic firing mechanism in the PR's. but then why did frost have 4 when he had a flame unit? hmmmmm.

In the Humble oppinion of the Medical Department...I think this may be the horrible "Ultrasonic-Electronic BALL-BREAKER" Hudson was descibing in his rant to Ripley.

Just missed a resin "pop' of one on E-bay..damn.

A combi-pen, maybe?

Surely the marines, who appear to carry no other NBC / CBRN gear, would have some on them if they came tooled up with CN-20?

Ok for a couple of real answers (or at least ones that fit... )

One school of thought is that it is a remote detonator of some kind (much like the detonator of a Claymore mine).

A second idea is that it is an Atropine Auto Injector to combat the effects of nerve gas.

Apparently one of the cast members was asked this question at a convention (can't remember if Tony asked Cynthia Scott?)- That person said it was a grenade (I think.. Damn I must have Alzheimer's! :? ).

Anyway- a grenade doesn't really make sense as the Marines carried M40s.

The concept of it being a charger for the Pulse Rifle works for me seeing that a modified version of the belt tool was the Smartgun battery as Tarim-Rex mentioned.

Hey Vito... I'm sure the resin ones on eBay are from our very own FNG. So drop him a line.

Good morning Marines..

In retrospect...I concur w/SSGT. Burton..I think its a battery'power pack. given the fact marines are equiped with:

1.Shoulder Light
2.helmet CAM
3. Helmet IR

4. Bio sensor telemetry
5.Mission Radio
6. weapons

Its seems logical to have a backup power source.....At first at first I thought it was a hydraulic cylinder for breaching hatches..ect..
