The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi guys,

Well, I'm almost ready for the NSC event in the UK in a couple of weeks time: I have finally got my USCM costume put together!

BDUs are the (near-as-dammit) accurate ones that most of the UKCMs have. Patches are the US ones as per the movie, but will replace them with the new UK patches if we get them in time.

Armour is the wonderful SPAT armour which I bought from a fellow marine, painted over some of his more personalised grafitti (I painted it for him in the first place anyway), re-painted it with my name. Helmet is a resin MAA lid for light weightedness.

Pulse is a Spulserifle, but I have the pleasure of being the new owner of Simonus Primes' old TM G&P Pulse, which is on its way to me, and a sound kit en-route from Tim Shilling at Aspeng.

I also have a VP70 (but no holster) and a pop-gun belt tool which aren't shown in the pics.

All comments (good or bad) appreciated!

Hmmm.... need to work on my marine face! Also need to velcro the chest UNDER the shoulder!

Back view. Armour makes me look quite broad!

Front view. Shame the chest plate popped out in front of the shoulder. Need to velcro it.
Also, that double chin is simply blurred camera shake. Honest.

Looks great!
Nice to see you have jungle boots on. What does your cod piece say? Better order a Gerber Mk2 from Scott so you can do the "thing with the knife". MAA sells screen accurate holsters for a good price. All in all, looking bad ass! 8)

Looking mighty fine Phil.

I have tube fire grate blacking I can send you if you want it. It’s very similar to what was used to weather the orignal armour made by Terry.

Thanks for the comments so far guys!

Troon, believe it or not, the armour already has grate polish on it, and is actually darker (in real life) than a lot of other marines!!

I'm not sure if the shiny-ness is my low ceiling lights in the lounge, or camera flash, or what. However, I might give it another dusting over so that I don't get paranoid!!

Dom, thanks for the Bravo! It's very satisfying once all your hard work comes together into a 'final product'.

Mike, I struck lucky with the jungle boots. I found a supplier in the UK of brand new boots, they were £7.50 ($15?) plus £4 postage, so cost me £12/$24 shipped, and arrived in 48 hours of ordering! PM me anyone that wants their details.
Codpiece says "Cocked, Locked And Ready To Rock!".
Would love a Gerber Mk2, what's scott's boardname? Also, as I'm new around here, can somebody point me in the direction of MAA for the holster please? Oh, and thanks for the badass comment, though I think I need to work on my badass expression!

Osmotic, thanks very much for the offer of the grate polish, it's very much appreciated, but as said above I have some already. I just need to get re-smearing!

Keep the advice and comments coming guys! :D

Nice one.

A good Matt clearcoat spraybomb (humbrol's) will kill the shine on armour.

Or a day rolling around in the AE should help!!

Looking mighty fine there Phil.

Congrats on getting it all together.

I'd say Badass, but I know you and you'll start showing your badass off! :)

I saw the armour in the flesh on Rich last year, I didn't think it looked too shiny!

As you say must be the flash or something!

Looking forward to trooping with ya!

Andy

Jason, thanks mate, I'll have to be careful not to cut myself!

LSKIV, grrrrr right back atcha!

Sas, great idea, that would be a better way to do it as I'd rather not make the armour any darker than it already is.

Andy, thanks for the comments, and don't worry: My badass is just for you and you alone! :D Can't wait to troop with you again too, it's been far too long...

Thanks Andrew! These boots are made for walking...

Cheers Darren, will register on SFM tonight. I'll also pm you this evening with the boot supplier details.

Cheers Tony, a compliment like that coming from you is especially gratifying. And by that, I don't mean that you never compliment!! I mean that your own standard of work is so high that it means a lot to get praise.
And actually, Emily HATES the costume! She say's that at least with the Stormtrooper armour she can see my bum cheeks   .

Mnoble2, cheers! I will indeed add a little more weathering.

Andy S, i have SOOOO many jokes based on your comment!!

When/if you get a reply from him, tell him he's had a PM from me sitting in his Inbox since 24th September, about me wanting a VP70 holster, but he's not replied. :?

Hey Phil, how the devil are you? Long time no see.

Thanks for your kind offer, I may well take you up on that! Also, a little birdie tells me that you would be the man to speak to re: airsoft Pulserifle magazines. The airsoft I've just required has the bottom of the mag as a seperate 'cover'. I don't supposed you have a lone all in one mag + base left over, perchance?
