(Well Russ put up his SST uniform so I figured it wasn't
too off topic

).
I've been wanting to do this uniform pretty much since seeing Anubian's at D-Con a couple of years ago (was it '04?).
So about a year ago I found a 3/4 long ski jacket that was a nice blue/gray colour with some interesting pockets on it. And I thought "Hey this would make a great base for a T2 soldier!". So I grabbed it up.
(I realize that Reese's jacket is a gray version of a WWII tanker jacket- however this would be for a generic T2 Resistance soldier and not a Reese impression).
A year of procrastination goes by.
During that year I bought a pair of pants to match... but I lost 25lbs since last Halloween and now they don't fit.

(I also found a decent "Castro" style cap in that blue/gray colour).
So today in Walmart I see a
better pair of matching pants in my size... This finally gave me the inspiration to finish this costume once and for all!
Right now I'm working on what I feel is the most challenging part of the costume- adding the "anti-radiation" material to the jacket (which can be partly seen over Reese's shoulder in the pic above). I found some decent looking material at a local fabric shop. Unfortunately the quilted pattern isn't the same (it's a basic square pattern instead of the distinctive wavy lines the screenused one had).
Anyway I tell the clerk I need about a yard of the stuff. She cuts it... then tells me, "You do know this is $32.99 a yard?"
I tell her, "No I didn't, but I'll take it anyway."
So right now I've cut a large square of the stuff and am hemming some of the ends. I then have to cut it so it will go up over the right shoulder, around the collar and a third down the back as one piece. Needless to say this is one of the more ambitious sewing projects I've undertaken...
But I've got plenty of this stuff to spare if I foul it up.
So other than the jacket, I have to scratch make the leg guards (which look like they are just cut layers of black vinyl- which I have plenty of from another project). The gun will be my Longshot with the nose section removed. Just have to grab some dust goggles and a couple of gray pouches and I'll be good to go!
I figure I'll have this done in time for Halloween (however I still haven't decided if I'm going to go out as this, or my Robin- the weather that night will probably be the deciding factor!

).
Progress pics to come as they happen.
