The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Well, since I've been back from the UK I've been in the gym almost every week day working out for the rowing regatta to be held here in OKC in October.

Before leaving for the UK I signed up for the company rowing team and was picked - yey!
A team of 14 with a boat for 8 persons.
Obviously not everyone would make the team, but of course that goes without saying.

Our first race is August 18th and I just got pictures from our practice on Monday so I figured I'd share with you all.
The October Regatta is a much bigger event
http://www.headoftheoklahome.com

Now as some of you know since coming to the US I've put on a few pounds (damn American lifestyle) so of course the gym has helped me lose some pounds and gain some muscle (some)

Anyway, here are some pics from the gym and on the river for your enjoyment.

...and here is a pic of me from March at All-Con - YUCK!

I'm going to continue working out every week day after work so fingers crossed by D*Con I'll be looking a lot better!!

No jokes - but captions welcome ;)

I've been using a moisturiser with self tan because when out on the river you burn so easily being as pale as I am.
So far its been working ok, just don't want to turn myself orange <lol>

I'm just so psyched we beat out the all the other teams, even the ones who ponied up the cash to pay for the Boat House in the first place

You rock Tony. Now you have to buy all of us a beer at the Hardrock Cafe cause you are the race winners. Isn't that what winners do for their cheering section? Right guys??

Dude that's AWESOME!

I never won anything in an athletic competition growing up (didn't even place in the top three when I competed in body building).

It's definitely something to be proud of and cherish! :D

I was stroke during a few practices but in the race I was #4
We had 5 guys and 3 girls so we wanted to balance out the power as well as the equality ;)

Of course with this opportunity came the free corporate gym membership. 1 hour a day 3-4 times a week.

I LOVE IT!!!

Thanks all.
October here we come!!

I'll have Cherie there with the video camera this time ;)

CIT - 1st place!
Time of 2:01

Stroke seat (8 seat) caught a crab (lost the oar into the water) towards the middle but recovered before any major time was lost.
Powered through and won with a lead of about 60-70 feet from 2nd.

We did it.
4-5 months of training and we took not only the Corporate League in August but the OG&E Night Sprint Corporate Challenge as well.
Two nice gold medals for display

Needless to say I'm chuffed!!

Just need to beg to corporate office to sign us up again for next year.....maybe with 2 teams.
Thanks all for the support - it has been a blast!!!

Just got back from watching Tony and his Teamates kick some major butt in the rowing regatta. By my count that's two medals and two trophies for two events, way to go brother!

Way to go Marine .......you completed your mission gloriously. Now go for a holiday at a little planet called LV426 at the "HADLEY'S HOPE HEALTH RESORT". You can relax, play cards and do some sight seeing out in the country side using the company rovers. Let us know how rested you feel in about.....17 days.

Seriously, well done Tony.
~double thumbs up smilie~

Congrats tony, this is a real achievement to be proud of!

Loving the Serenity T-shirt and USCM shorts... but PLEASE... long white socks? What WERE you thinking?!

By the way, I have pale skin to rival your UK tan, but then unlike you I'm still here in gloomy England!

Well done again, be sure to name your boat 'The Sulaco'...
