I decided to implement this modest award as a way of showing appreciation and giving thanks to *“Colonial Marines” who have excelled in their commitment, and who have demonstrated their dedication to the growth and development of the group by hard work resulting in tangible benefits for all.
In 2006, Cpl. Tony Leach was the first recipient. Tony excelled in his efforts to organize the Colonial Marine Charter and, in addition, devoted many hours in an effort to bring ALIENS character actors to DragonCon. He succeeded in facilitating that, as we all know, by Cynthia Scott's presence at the Con in 2006. TKS Tony. It would not have been the same without his efforts.
This year, the Most Valuable Marine Award recipient is Cpl. Dom "Sharp" Beaudoin. Dom excelled in his efforts to bring to life, organize and expand the ranks of the Canadian Colonial Marines. He has been instrumental in appropriating and facilitating the production and distribution of many Colonial Marine kit items that make our costuming endeavors more enjoyable. Gregarious and generous by nature, Dom, by example, has succeeded in raising the bar in the fun department for all Colonial Marines, and enhancing the sense of camaraderie and Esprit de Corps that we all share. TKS Dom, and congratulations.
*"Colonial Marines" Those who Gear Up, Drop In, and Do it: show up at Cons in appropriate Colonial Marine costume.
The MVM logo was created by our own Mike Rush.
The Award is a ubiquitous, Zippo Lighter adorned with two engraved placards. One denoting name, rank, and serial number; the other the MVM logo.
Recipients of the award automatically become members of the selection committee.
