The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'd be in for two. If you can get it down to $40 or less I'd be in for more.

I'd be in for at LEAST 1, maybe 2, depending on the price for them.

The project is a go.

I printed out enough mag tabs for 24 bases.

I'm doing some minor revisions to mag base. I modified the

height of the 9V counter battery in my M41A, so I want to

make some internal adjustments, so you guys can

use them without making any dremel changes to the top of

the battery holder. If anyone has a G&P M41A assembled in

the LA area, I would like to send you a preproduction sample

for your evaluation.

thanks.

I should have them ready by mid Nov.

Hey guys,

I'm still making these. I've encountered some personal
set backs these past two months, so I have not spent a lot
of time on these. I sent two preproduction samples out to
KerrSG1 this week. Hope he likes them.
I have enough mag clips for around 20-25 bases, so I plan on at least making that many. Four new ones for me. I made
many improvements to the ones I originally have. So, I will
take pre orders on let's say 20 bases. Please send me a
PM if you want some. I'm holding the limit for two per person
for now, because of limited quantity. Also, please only PM me
on one forum. It is confusing when posting an order here and
the SFM. I plan on starting up this project again in Jan.

Here's the list so far, If you're still interested.

I got the two prototype ones today and they are FANTASTIC. They are very solid and the hi cap magazine slides perfectly into place. There is a slight adjustment I had to make on my PR, the battery edge was just tapping slightly against the edge of the mag bottom, but it 'slaps in' very well. The bottom leaves excellent access to the wheel to wind the spring in the mag. I'm not sure if there is anything that needs done to 'lock' the magazine and mag bottom together, but it's a pretty good pressure fit so it may not be necessary. Maybe a dab of glue but I'm not sure if that's even necessary. I'd rather not do a 'permanent' solution unless necessary. The color is pretty much dead on for the color of the G&P shroud color, so you can't really tell the difference of the materials.

Overall, I'd say they are definately worth it if you want to switch out the crappy and loose mag bottom of your PR. Mine won't be in skirmishes, so I can't say how durable they will be, but they feel durable.

I'm not sure what changes might have occurred between these two prototype ones, but if they have been improved upon since these two, then I'd say snatch some for your PR!

Edit:

On further inspection, under better light, the color is just SLIGHTLY off of the shroud color. It's not enough that it'd ever be an issue for me, but considering the shroud itself isn't supposed to be dead on accurate to the screen used Bess Brown color, I don't know that anyone else would care either.

The G&P shroud color is no where close to being Brown Bess. Rather it is firmly in the olive green family.

mnoble2,

I'm really curious to know what kind of Rapid Prototyping machine you use. I've never heard of a R/P machine outputting to ABS... colored ABS too! That's awesome!!!

It's painted, I'm not sure what the ABS, or whatever plastic it is, color is.

The mags are printed from a Fuse Deposition Modeler (FDM).
A company called Stratasys makes the machines. The abs
comes in a few basic colors. I have black currently. As for the
paint,I took a part from the G+P kit to a company called Finishmaster,(supplier to autobody shops) and had them color
match it with a spectrometer.(fancy words eh) After all the
finish work, (priming, filling, sanding, painting) I spray a clear dull coat. This gives a pretty close match between the
injected plastic and a painted part. I didn't have to worry
about this with my PR,because I cut out main sections of the
shrouds and replaced them with FDM parts to make the kit more screen accurate. So, my shrouds are primed and painted.
The result is a nice weathered look after skirmishing.

Oh one more thing, It takes 6-7 hours to print one mag base,
so it takes awhile to make them.

Here are some views of the Pulse Rifle with the magazine bottom I got recently. My extra bottom is waiting for a high cap magazine to come in.

Hi

New to the forum, just wondering if your still taking orders for these, they're fantastic, a perfect solution.
Let me know how much they are and what the closing date for orders is (if it hasn't already passed of course).
