The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I was just wondering if anyone has been mad enough to build an APC at any point?

Was the original custom built or was it based on an existing land craft?

The original was built around a vehicle that is used for towing airplanes. The outer shell was all custom made.

AFAIK no one has buillt a 1:1 scale APC since. The closest I believe was the 1:6 scale one that Chris FNG USCM made a little while back and was amazing.

Cheers

Darren

A few years ago we discussed this...theres a place near here that has some for sale...the project flopped though...although it would be bad ass to roll one down the street at the next DC parade;)

How much are they asking?

And what happened to the screen used one?

The screen used one was on loan from London Heathrow.

I believe it was then given back to the airport.
BUT I hear when they built the APC they stripped it to make it lighter.....so not sure if they gave it back to Heathrow to use. You'd think it would have been unuseable!!

If it wasn't given back to Heathrow.......then someone is hiding it pretty well.

they were towing one to a boneyard by my work in

South Central LA. It was baby blue, and sad to see it

being retired.

In the extras in the Quad DVD set they stated that the original towing vehicle weighed in the area of 60 tons, and they stripped about 30-40 tons from it before doing the custom work on it.

There was a photo somone shared from the UK release either of the film or Alien War (sorry, memory failing...) and the APC was there on display, as well as some fans dressed as marines.

It's one of those mysteries from the film everyone would like to know about.

I'm suprised nobody has attempted to "play Sherlock" and perhaps ask about. Start with Heathrow asking if there was anyone in administration working there in 1986, and expand outward, hitting fabrication shops, and perhaps staff at Pinewood, maybe even the Alien War creators who had access to screen used props at the time.

It wouldn't be easy or fast, but you could make a research project out of it. Heck, maybe even a filmed documentary. If I was local, I'd do it myself. There's just this little problem of an ocean seperating us. :)

It was displayed outside the Odeon cinema in London's Leicester Square when the film opened there in 1986.

I know one of the person that made the APC.

This person have given me photos of the and other building the APC.

He also help make the lockers and the pods for the dropship.

Here a Photo of the APC.

I know he was the one that took a arc welder to the side door to make it look like acid had hit it.

I will get more information from him.

I was looking at doing a scaled unit built on a golf cart or atv so it could be trailered easily.
