I'm going to have to quit my job so I can stay home 24/7 to keep abreast of this thread!
Truthfully I hate having shoulder patches on a dress uniform as they
are loud.
And (unfortunately) the "Screaming Animal" patch in particular. It looks great on BDUs- not so much on a dress uniform. Unfortunately the only time we've seen it on anything other than BDUs is Gorman's service C shirt. And because he was an LT- he didn't have any rank badge on his sleeve for some perspective.
If we do go with the Screaming Animal patch- it goes on the right shoulder. It will be too long to have a rank badge fit underneath it (especially on my short sleeves

) so there will only be one rank badge worn on the left sleeve.
I don't want to see any badges or flags on the front of the uniform (above the breast pockets) as I can envision it becoming like a NASCAR jumpsuit.
I do really like the idea of a custom
COLONIAL MARINES (specifically without the "US") mudguard on the left shoulder over the flag patch. The readily available "US COLONIAL MARINES" rocker patch is useless in this case as it curves downward, not upward as needed for a shoulder flash- so we can't even get those for the purpose of altering them ourselves.
As far as I'm concerned the current USMC EGA is off limits. If you purchase a Dress Blues tunic- all EGA symbols (collar pins and buttons) must be removed and replaced with plain brass buttons (we will have to discuss where to get those so we all match).
I know that earlier (perhaps it was in another thread)- I too mentioned about the current EGA on Drake's shirt. I kind of had an inkling of retaining it for the cap badge. Well that was wrong of me. Misrepresentation is an issue.
I do like rank badges. If we go with the Eagle/Beaver/Lobster, you will only have to purchase one rank badge. I want to retain the Delta collar pins as they represent the EGA collar pins- there's no rank on the collar of a set of USMC Dress Blues if you know what I mean.

Here's a thought... our Warrant Officers, Master WOs and Chief WOs wear their rank devies on their sleeves... how would the Screaming (Animals) look there?
Here?
No seriously. Here?
I'm just funning with you Bro.
But I don't think it would work there.
