The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Been super busy lately sorry for not updating anything.

Short video showing the Colony updates.. Added another heat exchange pipe and now I have a TV back to honor the movie art director for using 100s of TV backs in the set of Aliens. Hive is still to come...

Thank you sir. It will look a lot different when the massive hive and colony victims are up there. It's like when you paint... you do the background first and then the foreground.

That looks incredible! For some reason I keep hearing " Remarkable piece of machinery. Completely automated...You know, we manufacture those by the way" playing in my head.

Hive skeletal structure is up... now I have to take them all down and actually build the hive... These are just the frames I will build the hive on. I can't build the hive in place I have to build it on the ground and put it back up.

Nice idea! Did you flare/constrict sections using a heatgun?

Thanks... I used a heat gun on the pvc frames... so far the pipes i've just been cutting and trimming them into place. So far the ceiling section weights 50lbs. Probably be at least 20lbs heavier still .. maybe more.

Wow - that's cool. What are you going to use to make the organic elements?

Whatever you use - it's gonna look bitchin' (to quote Gale Anne Hurd. :))

Thank you sir! I will use EVA foam and foam clay, same stuff I used to make the alien... then it will be painted to look all slimey... should be fun!

I installed painted plywood on the studs so I could drill anywhere and get a good hold.

Also I found the piece is already too heavy for me to handle it while on a ladder so I cut it in half so I only have to deal with half at a time. Also I am buying a scaffolding platform to make this easier. I don't want to scale it back...

I'm just test fitting at the moment. I wanted to see if I could even handle it like this... let alone with all the organics on it.

More work it doesn't look like much right now but this is just the skeleton the hive goes onto. The fun part will be adding all the organics...

Now you're just out of control. In a great way.

* Also have to throw out some respect for someone who owns their own rolling baker. 8)

Piping is done... You can already see some of the shapes I am going for. I have already taken some of this down to start on the organics.

Thank you! I will look a lot better. This is just the bare bones to give me something to build off of.

So while I am working on the hive the Alien had to come down off the ceiling. I had just the head on a stand and the body is put away but that was not satisfying enough. So tonight I tried to see if the neck would fit on the stand and sure enough it does.. Much more pleasing to look at while I work on the hive.

It's looking great! How do you keep motivated on such time consuming work? I understand a labor of love but even one has to take a break from that.
