The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hello everyone I am new here. I am building a 3d printed working electronic pulse rifle for my brother for xmas. I am already spending a good deal to build this and was wondering does anyone have brown bess imitation paint recipes for airbrushing? It looks like a mix of olive drab and grey imo. Curious if anyone has a cocktail to make something close thats able to be duplicated? Thanks

Yeah Im just gonna have to figure it out myself. I was hoping a fella bugstomper in north america would see this post and share any info they have. With the cost of the electronics and filament I cant justify ordering the brown bess from uk. Is that Archive x like sold in stores there?

There's quite a few threads on here that mention alternatives and I believe one or two people mentioned coming up with a recipe.

I'm glad you mentioned that, first bottle of Alclad Brown Bess I bought seemed near identical to the Humbrol, but kept clogging my airbrush.

I contacted them and they sent me some more, which had a different matting agent. It went through the airbrush fine, but the colour seemed different, seemed more Olive Drab???

Not sure if they sent me the correct colour.

Have any of you used the archivex?

Not for airbrushing, but I believe it was bigbisont whom introduced the idea of spray painting alternating coats of "Earth Brown" and "Forest Green".

This is what I came up with using both those colors, in Rust-Oleum.

I used white spirit (not sure what the US equivalent is?). Mixed it about 2/3 paint to 1/3 thinner.
