The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Slapped this guy together yesterday using roughly $30 in 1-1/2" PVC pipe fittings.

If I were to do it again, I would change a few things about the shin guard section (start it lower overall, use only 90* angle parts and not 45*) but I think this will do the job very nicely. The second pic is of the screw in the back that holds the strap of the ab-pad (just draped over)

Not yet, they are all pretty snug 'as-is', so part of me wants to keep my options open if I realize a way to improve it. For now 'friction fit' is doing the job.

That looks awesome! What did you use as a base? Is the base weighted so it won't topple over?

The base is a toilet 'flange' actually. It wast he cheapest of the 'flanges' available. I bought it because it was not only wide, but had holes in it where I could sink screws. BUT!...turns out...don't need screws into a new base. So far, that simple flange has done the job. Everything is pretty centered. One thing to be aware is I think all toilet flanges are 3" pipe, so you will need a spare piece (2-4" ) of 3" pipe to connect the reducer and the 'flange' (or find something that that can merge the 2 from the inside).

But no it isn't weighted. It is all just pretty centered and the wide base has done OK. I won't say I won't add a base later though. See how it goes...

bibbisont -Thanks for the info! This is armor stand is so practical. If I had multiple cosplay character gear I can make a stand for each character. Excellent job!

This is the cheaper option with what bigbisbont has shown here.

For reference why many go this route, here is a price of a decent heavy duty mannequin:

If you shop around and I would wait a few months at this point with retail armegeddon to kick in and there will be a huge surplus of heavy duty mannequin bodies floating around for cheap.
