The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Realmscon 2007. Corpus Christi, TX. Unfortunately, the convention is mostly anime-themed. But that didn't stop some folks from recognizing you can only obtain peace through superior firepower and the M41A (along with a stron USCM presence) can make it happen.

Here's some pics.

This is me with Joann Sherry, US Army. I forgot to ask her about her rank, but I'll do so tomorrow. She's rockin' my friend's airsoft M16.
Image
This is fitness model Elektra Knight. One of the most down-to-Earth models I've ever met and the only one I enjoy talking to. She remembers EVERYONE... even nerds like me! :D
She also loves the Pulse Rifle.
Image
Me with Elektra.
Image
I have no idea who this random Jedi is, but it's nice to see more sci-fi representation at an anime con.
Image
The wizard and pirate are a married couple who sell their goods every year.
Image
Alien head belonging to Corpus Christi's Horror Society. They want me to be a part of their haunted house this year! :D
Image
This is Clare. She's part of the staff. She's a riot (and she LOOOOOVES the Pulse Rifle).
Image
Check those corners... check those corners.

Comin' back up.

- EDIT -
Totally forgot to add this picture.

Thanks, guys. I'll be sure to relay that message to Joann, if I see her. I'll be sure to have a blast tomorrow for all of you. Last day of the con, might as well have one helluva last hoorah. I'll try to score more pics with the ladies, if I can. Trouble is, ninety percent of 'em are around fifteen years old. The women that aren't are either in their fifties or about two hundred pounds overweight. Which is why they say "The only thing bigger in Texas is the women and the ego." Go figure.

Unfortunately, guys, I won't be able to make Dragoncon this year. :( I just didn't prepare for it. But I think I might attend next year, provided it doesn't interfere with my school schedule.

Absolutely no excuses. I'm going to start saving up, now.

Don't know how I'm going to get the Pulse Rifle around, though... looks like I might have to take the bus. Or the train.

Hey DBM,
Excellent mate :D Looks like you had a hell of a time there :D

Sounds like you went down a storm too, which is even better, hey even if it was the PR that grabbed the babes, your it`s owner ;) :D

As for the Joann Sherry of the US Army,is`nt that her rank in the photo mate (just above the M16A2 carry handle). Looks like she`s a Staff Sgt or maybe higher (cannot work the number of under stripes attached to the Sgt stripes).

As Nick said in his best Homer voice,I`ll echo that :D Elektra is a Wowzer :D

Glad your had so much fun :D

Awesome job with the armour BTW ;)

You looked great all suited up! Well done!

I KNOW there are more scifi fans in Texas. Perhaps you could ride share with one of them to DC next year?

Thanks for the compliments, guys! That means a lot comin' from y'all.

If any Texas-area Marines wanna join me for this con next year, I'll pay for your gas! :D I'm trying to drum up interest in sci-fi and the only two elements outside of anime  for this con is a Star Trek club (the U.S.S. Joan of Arc) and the Coastal Bend Horror Society. Sometihing like that. Three or four USCMs are better than one! :D

Plus, you've got a place to crash, if necessary.

More pics from today (26 August 2007). The "damsel in distress" and I.
Image

Posing for a pic with some kids dressed as characters from some game called "Kingdom Hearts" or something.
Image

This girl LOVED the Pulse Rifle. Check out her arms, she should have one of these!
Image

Here's her friend... who also loved the PR. Judging by her pose... I'd say she's used one of these before.
Image

Are ya mean?! YEAH!

What are you?! REALLY MEAN! What are you?! REALLY MEAN!

Looking at my pictures, now... I think the shoulder lamp's too low. :x

Lookin good man, glad you got to have some fun (looks like your PR had more fun) ;)

So often we stress so much over getting ready that it waters down the actual event. It's great you got all your gear and your PR sorted and you had a good time.

I gotta say, I really have you to thank for helpin' me out with my Pulse Rifle, Matt. Without your assistance, I wouldn't have been able to get the costume together (people mostly tend to notice the PR first... mostly).
