The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

As I noted to Scapey - what was Alien with Predator (AvP) now looks a lot more like Predator with Alien (AvP2), and it must be said, I far prefer the latter prospect.

Bring it on!

I will cross my fingers for this one as well. The trailer does indeed look sweet. The first AVP was utter rubbish.

Tweaked the thread title. :)

Having done that, I'm really curious about 'Predator Jones' there.
Or is it 'Indiana Predator?' :)

I'm torn on the whole film. It looks nifty, but I actually prefer the Preds as a "noble beast."

Seems like they're laying waste to everything.

I'm wondering if the Elder Predator seen at the end of the first film will be a major character in this one.

Should be fun either way.

Me in my Predator suit and my wife (Squashed Spider) in her Xeno suit.

Ooooooooooooooooo I like I Like & pray to god this is the trailer for the film & that the film will be as good as the trailer is promising.

It had the feel of Alien & Aliens & most certainly of Predator 1 & 2.

This Could FINALLY be the one AVP we are going to enjoy :D

That's has to be the trailer.
CGI of the crash is not amateur and the applause at the end.....it was a convention screening.

Now I've said before that the synopsis for this looked horrible, but seeing it on film.......I really don't know.

Aliens, Preds, Facehuggers in the forest and modern day military.......certainly interesting.
My expectations are coming up...I'm just worried about the acting of the cast.

But.........I did enjoy that trailer ;)

They kill anything that can remotely pose a threat don't they?

(Sorry- I was looking for any excuse to post that pic  )

Anyway- I don't want to say this is going to suck until after I've seen it first.

But...

The Alien/Predator franchise has gone the way of Freddy/Jason/Michael Myers- the human characters have become nothing more than fodder for claws.

What the franchise needs more than ever are strong human characters- the "Magnificent Seven" group from the original Predator. The tight knit Colonial Marines (need I say more? ). It didn't matter that they all ended up dead in the end... they were memorable characters! There was someone every person of the audience could identify with.

The last AvP film (and quite frankly Alien Res) lacked this key ingredient of the great films that preceded them.

Once any horror film focuses on the monster rather than the human factor, it becomes crap. The monsters are one dimensional characters that cannot hold a storyline.

The film has a bunch of nobody actors playing the actual people- unless they are outstanding unknowns with a fantastic script, it will be incredibly difficult to care whether they live or die. When Blaine bought it, I felt bad. Same went for Dillon, and even Billy. I couldn't believe it when Apone and Drake were killed in the first assault on the hive. Hudson, Vaz and even Gorman had me thinking "Awww- sorry to see them go- they were cool".

Like I said- it becomes another installment in the slasher genre. Just with better special effects.

And that's not Sigourney.

Marines,

I'm still around.

Just found out yesterday, thanks to my friend Juando, that the AVP2 ("Requiem") trailer is out. Saw it on IGN.com and then again on YouTube.

Personally, I like this first trailer a lot. I have a feeling more AVP fans will be satisfied with this movie than the first movie. [I'm one of the few AVP fans that is okay with AVP1.]

The direction / shot composition looks great, the CGI looks great and Reiko Aylesworth (a.k.a. Michelle Dessler of "24") looks great! I'm not too keen on some of the Alien suits, though. I think it has just become TOO obvious that they are of the "man-in-a-suit" variety with the suit actor's head "hiding" in the xenomorph's neck. I wonder if others would agree with me on this. I remember the Aliens being awesomely creepy in Alien & Aliens because they just LOOKED like bugs! But they're supposed to, aren't they?!?!?

All that aside, I really hope to enjoy AVP2. Christmas, here we come!

I invite any fans / USCMers here to add me as a friend!

P.P.S. Did anyone else spot that very thin Predator? Is it a female yautja or a young yautja? Perhaps both?!?!

I like the AvP concept, it was bound to happen considering Pred2.

However, I really think, and I'm not alone on this (thanks Cessnadriver), another ALIEN movie involving a squad of the mighty USCM is long overdue and will probably, if directed right, be a hit.

Maybe an elite squad, after the LV426 massacre goes on a multi planet "bug hunt".

How about the Sulaco was found drifting in space and had to make an emergency orbit around a planet, but there were 2 lifeboats jettisoned (Ripley and her crew in one, who was in the other?) type of thing.

Just a thought.

Cheers,

Kraig

As far as I'm concerned, the whole franchise stops just before that grenade explodes. Vasquez is NOT dead. :P

But, yeah, I hear ya there. I had zero interest in any of the convicts in Alien 3, and the only reasons I felt something for any of the characters in Resurrection were the actors: I worship Ron Perlman, Dominique Pinon (Vriess) is one of my favourites since Delicatessen, and I find Wynona Ryder desperately cute. But the characters themselves were hopeless...
As for AvP, after they slaughtered about 80% of the cast in the opening trap of the temple, I lost all interest. Can't even remember the name of any of them - except Weyland, but how could I forget that one?

It's a good trailer (IMHO AVP 1 had some good set pieces but the holes in the plotline mean't the whole thing fell apart) and like most of us, I will be going to see it.

Remembering characters from AvP... nope. I'm with ya there. All I remember is um... the blond security chick who probably becomes the Grid Alien...

Oh! Then there's Much from the Robin Hood TV series. As the archaeologist's assistant.

Well, there is some stuff from the script in the trailer, and thankfully some stuff that's NOT in the script is in there. Some nice gags and the violence looks bloody. The girl getting pinned to the wall is cool, but, how was she a threat to him?

I don't think we're going to care about the characters at all, unless we get what AVP didn't have, and that is a stand out performance by one of the leads.

But the trailer did it's job for me, and that is it made me interested to see it.

I got the feeling from the whole preview that the pred is killing everything in sight out of sheer preservation. It knows that humans are a breeding ground for Xenos, and since humans dont stand a chance against them, the pred might as well kill them before the humans get to give ummmmm"birth" to a new potentially lethal threat.......

WHAT? How did I miss THAT?

Now I'm going to have to watch it again...

As an OT tidbit, anyone else see that Wil Scarlett (Ray Winstone) will be Indy Jones' new sidekick in IJ4?

And Nasir (Mark Ryan) was the voice of Bumblebee in Transformers.

All very Cool.
