The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Think she fits the hero role quite well now we just need to see if she can act! ☺

Pretty good trailer all told. Glad to see some familiar elements and some more space-truckerish costumes. Those Prometheus suits were just too Lost in Space for me.

Eiter way - I can't wait to see this movie :D
Looks like they done a far better job than the Prometheus in tying this up with the Alien universe.

Were the creatures in Prometheus considered bio-mechanical or just biologic?

Burner: Engineers didn't land this ship, David and Shaw did. ;)

Willie: I guess it depends on how you view the body suits of the Engineers on LV-223. We see in the prologue that they have very humanoid bodies underneath the suits, but it is possible the suits are more than just clothing.

When you have a trailer where people bang on the door and scream to get out and someone won't let them out...well...yeah...it's going to be xenomorphantastical. Is that a word?

Sorry to sound sceptical, but I've got my doubts about this one. It looks like another ride on the merry-go-round of the same old plot elements:
Leaving main ship behind to land on planet. Rough landing. The 'Yoda factor', where the thing you're looking for or meant to find is right where you put down. Destroyed dropship. Infection argument on either side of a door. Running down corridors, looks like the Cap and Daniels are evacuating the ship so maybe it's going to self-destruct?
And that's just the trailer. The one unfamiliar scene was the couple getting it on in the shower, but even that's an old slasher movie trope.
Please please please let me be wrong.

The infection/"backburster" thing is ripped directly from William Gibson's Alien 3 screenplay too.

I really REALLY want this to be good. Prometheus wasn't great, but it was trying to be something other than just an Alien movie. I'm hopeful that this won't swing the other way and devolve into nothing more than unending hollow references to Alien/Aliens.

Ugg. That shower scene was just dumb. Holding out hope but I wasn't really impressed with the trailer at all.

CGI tail was ugly.
I was also more impressed with the trailer of Prometheus.

I re-cut the trailer. What do you guys think? I hid the faces/identity of the crew who gets infected.
With the re-cut: We now don't know the face of the back burster, we don't see the spore go in the ear or the face of the person, we don't see the facehugger attach himself to that crew member and we don't see the end shower death. Thoughts? I feel like this drastically improves "trailers give too much away".

It amuses me how for SOOOO many years we had nothing new Alien(s) related except video games, and now we've had
2 AvP films, a "prequel" and people still complain about the series.

We'll likely Never gat another Aliens film. It was kind of a "lightning in a bottle" moment in time.

Personally, I've enjoyed most of the films in recent years. Yes, some were better than others, but
overall, each added a bit more to the mythos. I AM looking forward to the new film, but, like most genre
films (Marvel, Star Wars/Trek) I plan on going without ANY expectations at all.

If you hold a future Alien film up to your ideal (Aliens) you'll be disappointed. I doubt that Blomkamp's
film will equal Aliens either, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, and give the film a chance.

Just my personal opinion.

I now return you to the ongoing "This film will suck and I hate all the actors" discussion in progress.

:D

We're just disappointed with all of the wasted potential that was there that the various film makers just took a crap on, including Ridley Scott, who evidently has nobody to tell him, "This doesn't make any sense Ridley. Shouldn't we think this through a little more?"

Enh, I get the sense the that studio is leaning hard on him to stick with the "what we already know works" formula.
