The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

The event coordinator for the Glasgow film festival has been in touch regarding a special event in Feb next year. She heard good things from the GFT so well played all!

Numbers and exact details to follow but I said I'd see what the interest was like. Location is likely to be the IMAX at the science centre. Just looking for bugs and marines (Inc pilots) just now.

Readyline
Boltie (Xeno)
BigStew (Marine)
Capn Thrag (Marine)
Emika (Marine)
wetcelery (Ripley)
Fabi73 (Marine)

The film is on at 7.30 and we have free run of the place beforehand. We have an entire floor for changing and storage. If anyone is driving, the IMAX will sort your parking. Im working on the Saturday, but will be going over straight from work, so Ill be onsite from about 5.30pm. Ill bring water / bru and some wee snacks.

Have a wee look over this script and see what you think of it:

“Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to this special screening of the Directors Cut of Aliens, hosted by the Cineworld IMAX and Glasgow Film Festival. It’s a pleasure to see so many of you here, proving that even in its 30th year, James Cameron’s masterpiece can still draw a crowd.”

“My name is Professor Walker. Im part of the Xenobiology program at Weyland Yutani UK. As you can see, we’ve been able to bring one of our more personable Xenos along tonight to really tie in with this special screening and to highlight the strides WY is making in the biomed and bioweapons sectors. Theres no need for concern, the collars he is wearing is embedded with special infrasound emitters, which help to curb his aggressive tendencies. One of our researchers has likened the effect to having a permanent hangover. There is absolutely no danger to you.”

“On that note, Id like to take a moment to thank our additional security force tonight. We have a squad from the USS Hadrian’s Wall on loan from the UK Colonial Marines. They are here for your protection; They are highly trained, they are very motivated, they are well equipped. Their weaponry ranges from the iconic M41a pulse rifle, to close quarters shotguns, to … the... 50 calibre anti-materiel rifle. Private, was that really necessary? “

*The marine just shrugs*

“Anyway. Please enjoy the film, and we will have some photo opportunities afterwards with our Alien and our Marines. Thankyou.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Thankyou once again, ladies and gents for your attendance this evening. We will now have a short….

*Sirens begin to wail and the Marines ‘kick in the doors’ and begin deploying up the stairs*

“EVERYONE BACK IN YOUR SEATS. NO ONE MOVE”

“Sergeant, what is the meaning of this?”

“We have a Code Black, prof. The collar has failed, the Xeno is loose. Squad one, cover the exits. Corporal, take squad two and sweep from the top of the building down”

“Sergeant, that creature is worth more than this damn building! Lethal force is NOT authorised!”

*While the Sergeant is talking, the Xeno appears at the back of the auditorium and begins to terrorise the back row. The Marines head up the stairs, weapons raised. There are a lot of shouts along the lines of “I DON’T HAVE A CLEAR SHOT!” and “CIVILIANS IN THE WAY.” After a minute or two of frantic activity and a couple of marines down, the Alien exits. There are screeches from the exit then silence. A bloodied professor comes back to the mic*

“Thankyou for your patience during our… technical issues. We have our Xenomorph back in containment…You are now free to leave the auditorium.”

*NOTES*

The Marines will make it clear that a lack of a clear target, uncertainty over where the Alien is and risk of collateral damage are their reasons for the lack of gunfire.

One of the lightly armed Marines (Sarge?) will have a holstered pistol. There is the possibility that we may be able to use a dry firing airsoft replica to provide some actual shots fired effects.

Wireless camera flash may be used to provide additional atmospheric effects to the Xenomorph attack.

Language to be kept film appropriate. Drop the F bomb, but keep it as vague as possible within other shouts.

Just one more question. I don't have a weapon as I'm getting my pulse rifle made up by another member in here. I bought a way too daft toy machine gun which I don't want to use so I don't know what to do regarding a gun.

I have a licence to carry airsoft but I only have a standard brown rifle. Not really space-looking kinda thing.

I also have a blank firing pistol.
Any help?
