The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Ah, ok! That's quite a difference!
However, to my knowledge, Humbrol didn't have any acrylic spray paints at the time of the movie.

The colors I used on my armor are Humbrol 30 (Dark Green Matt), 110 (Natural Wood Matt), 88 (Chocolate Matt), 91 (Black Green Matt), 147 (Light Grey Matt).
Except for the base color, I think those are a good match.

Cheers,
Stefan

Humbrol 88 is not Chocolate - are you sure about the numbers?

No, there where no acrylic sprays but at this time, the humbrol matt 30 enamel color has had the color like today the acrylic spray...time changed, colors changed, systems changed!

It's a world of change. If they changed the color they must have done it pretty early on, because it's been 10 years that I painted my armor and I made sure to use the "enamel" paints instead of the later "super enamel" version. Also the color 30 is named Dark Green - so my guess is that it was always on the Dark Side (sorry couldn't resist  ).

Stefan

Dudes? I like it to be here :D!

All I can say is, that the color which is used in the movie is petrol green - and there is still the option that they mixed two or three colors to get the right tone! There are more petrol greens than Matt 30 - I'll try them all and I'll mix them and I'll test the Acrylic Spray very soon!

I used Matt 30 tin enamels to paint my first set years ago like...oh, 15 years ago now? And it looked the same as the current acrylic spray. Very blue tint to it. The current 30 has definitely been changed to a darker tone. However, the old 30 still never looked as "green" as it seems like it should. One thing I've noticed is that a lot of the Humbrol greens lean towards a bluish tint when photographed.

As you can see - I am testing a giant bunch of colors by painting it on my Terry English armour!
I am using also mixed humbrol colors - for example my brown is a mix of 1 x Matt 29 and 3 x 160 Matt and 1 and a half x Chocolate Brown!
I also tested the acrylic Matt 30 Spray and all greens which are similar to Matt 30!

That looks pretty spot on Burner!
Is anyone using a base coat on the armour such as a green then applying the other colours on top or are you drawing on the camo and painting each bit individually?

Jay

Thank You ...but all you see is just a test - the next step is to remove the colors from the armour by using "aceton" ! Then I'll put the right colors perfectly on the armour! Maybe by applying the other colors on green, maybe by painting each bit individually - not sure right now - all I know is, that the screen used armours where painted green first - ...take a look! Do you see the green below the other colors :)?

Hi, yes that's what I'm thinking of doing on mine, apply green to the whole piece and then apply the other colours on top. I take it that's the green you have matched in your previous post?

This is what my armour is looking right now - after mixing over weeks different humbrol colours - I really have to take a brake right now, before re-painting the complete armour in "my" correct colors!"

Holy Sh*t! I found this picture of the original HUDSON armour via Spatcave! Do you see what I see? If this armour is weathered, the Humbrol Black Green would be more black than green - I have to think about my weathering... and there is another color...a kind of 6th colour used on the armnour - this colour could be Humbrol 29... also used by Terry English for his paintings!

Nice find on that pic. Very good shot of the colors. The only green I can think of in the current lineup that matches that brilliance is 101 and 131, which are the matt and satin versions of "Mid-Green" respectively. I initially looked at 101 after watching the behind the scenes bit where they are approaching the main entry to the Colony. The part where Biehn walks past the camera, you can see that his armor is practically glowing green. Part of it is obviously the lighting, but there's no mistaking the general tone. I HAD talked myself out of it thinking that it was way too bright... but I was also conveniently ignoring the fact that 101 is almost a perfect match for the green on the Neca Marines, particularly the greaves. I guess I'll have to revisit it.
Still hoping that 105 is it though. I'm beginning to wonder more and more if these things were not as weathered as I'd previously believed...

No humbrol colour you'll test will be the right and correct colour...you have to mix it to get what you want!
