The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'd be up for one if it was in OD, I have way too many black T-Shirts.

I'd say they can if we can get a commitment for 24, and be paid by the end of this week. Three more to go...

I made a point about during Dcon (see Dcon thread in USCM Noticeboard), we invite Lance for Sunday supper and present him a T-Shirt. Over & above my second T-Shirt order, I'll be willing to chip in $5 (1/4 of the price) towards that gift/T-Shirt.

As much as I like the art, I'm with Sidewinder on this one: the background makes it too exuberant for a T-shirt, at least for my taste.

So, before I commit myself to anything, just checking: the image in the original post IS what we get on the shirt, right?

Unless Noeland says different, it will be as-is. As for myself, I feel his design and background are fantastic. We've had trouble in the past with asking opinions on designs and looks... everybody's got a different opinion and projects get bogged down and eventually end up being shelved because of it.

That's cool, Dom, I understand fully the whole "too many cooks" thing. As I said, I love the art, but on a shirt it doesn't suit me. No commentary inferred on its quality or on your own work here!

So, unless Noeland goes for the stripped-down version, I'm out of this one.

... and "stripped-down version" just conjured up entirely improper images in my mind...

Well, before I get into answering questions, let me address the modification and reposting issue, and how I feel about it in this situation:

I created this particular image as a gift to the marines I hang with on this board (one of my favorites) and I didn't create it so someone else could change it to how they like it, remove my name from my own work, and then repost it saying it's better. I created and posted a decent version that could be printed out for anyone who wants it, because as I said, this was a heartfelt gift.

I understand that you're just making a suggestion, but it's a little insulting to say that is "better" than what I created, and to erase my name from my own drawing is damn disrespectful, all in all.

I knew what you were going for when you made he initial suggestion, you didn't have to photochop my art.

There are no "cooks" here, there is me, and the artwork I made for you. Take it or leave it, but please don't change it, take my name off of it then repost it.

If it's too "exhuberant" or too busy for your tastes, then by all means, don't get a shirt, don't print it out, don't look at it. Leave it.

Now, I'm going to assume that the above image was created without much consideration of those things, and no consideration at all for me, because honestly I think everyone gets a little photoshop happy nowadays, and I know you were trying to make a point. So I'm trying not to take offense.

I was asked to change the work once already for the UKCM, and I really don't want to do that either, I'd rather just create a whole new one for them that would be a gift to them, and original to that group.

Anyway, here are the answers you seek:

Quote:
BTW, just to check... What sort of print will this be?

It'll be a very nice multi colored screen print on a 100% or 50/50 quality T-shirt. No kinko's heatpress or iron on garbage if that was what you were worried about. It'll be a nice print, and it won't be bullet proof either! I've been designing T-shirts for a long, long time.

Quote:
Hey Dom, are these T-Shirts gonna be ready for issue at Dcon?

Yes, they'll be ready for Dcon short of a catastrophic event taking out our T-shirt shop anyway. I live right here in Atlanta, work right here at a very nice large T-shirt company, and you all have my word that if you're coming to Dcon, you can pick it up there.

I won't be going to the show however, so I will make sure Dom gets the shirts to pass on to everyone who attends, probably when I present the Sarge with his new VP!

I think that's it, yeah?

Hey Noeland,

I have one quick question, will the print be on the front or back of the shirt?

If you do do a new one for the UKCM that would be great thanks.

Cheers

Darren

Eeek. I do apologise if you feel insulted by my comments, that was certainly not my intention. Someone had suggested the change, I was merely waiting to see what your take on that was - and I was definitely considering it YOUR take, no one else's.

I love that image, and if there are any posters made with it, I'll buy one in a heartbeat. The T-shirt option attracts me less, but that's purely a matter of personal taste, and not a critic on your talent or your intention. I just want to be sure that was clear.

Once again, I'm really sorry if anything I said paid offense. :(

I don't think anyone intended any offense, BTW. Although removing your name was a bit daft...

First, I didn't mean any disrespect by what I did.

Second, I didn't state that it was better but that in my opinion I thought it was better (there is a difference).

Third, your sig got erased cos it was a only quick job to illustrate what I meant (not necessarily to you) and I didn't see much need trying to poorly redraw it in on top of an 'unerased' part. Everyone knows its your piccy anyway and as its not gonna appear elsewhere...

Fourth, to that end I used the low res version so that it wouldn't be any use other than as an illustration of my thoughts.

Fifth, i've removed it from the thread and all other copies from my PC.

Yep, that works for me... If any of you have a buddy going to DCon, you can arrange for local pick up... the name of your recipient will have to be specified in your order email.

Guys, I don't want to have any hard feelings on this subject, so I just wanted to thank Sidewinder for removing the image.

I sincerely appreciate that, I hope everything is cool with us.

Thank you!
