The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey guys,
A couple weeks back I started a quest to build something not only for my fan film but something that has been out of my reach money wise. I searched plastic supply places and places like goldenarmor.com who wanted over 300.00 for a kit that didnt even include the tube. So here it is

This entire build cost me less than 80 bucks.

I found a completely round aquarium on amazon for 50 bucks shipped and used a recast vinyl model kit from ebay that was 24 bucks. I went to homedepot and got a plastic drain cover and a round bubbler from amazon. If you guys want i'll post the entire parts list with links

Here is a parts list for what I posted so far

1.Aquarius Aq360-64c Aquaview 360 6-Gallon Aquarium Kit (came with the led light has 8 or 9 color modes)

http://www.amazon.com/Aquarius-Aq360-64 ... +Kit+with0

2.Re-cast facehugger kit (took about 3 1/2 weeks to get it but for the price you cant beat it, and if you want to shape it you can just hit it with a heat gun.

3. Round bubbler disk (this hides perfectly inside the drain cover)

http://www.amazon.com/PENN-5-Inch-Bubbl ... um+bubbler

4. Drain cover (this will cover the bubble disk and has a nice industrial look, this fits perfectly in the tank. I cut about 1/2 inch from the bottom so the facehugger could sit lower)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VY ... UTF8&psc=1

5. Air pump (This runs extremely quiet and worked perfect)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0018C ... UTF8&psc=1

I do have some kit-bashing stuff im going to put onstop along with some weyland-yutani decals so I'll post those this weekend

Wow, when it is laid out like that, it all seems like I'd be crazy not to have a go myself.

Very cool work.

Do you need to put anything in the water to keep it from getting scuzzy?
Did you put some sort of LED light element in the lid? Nice looking project!

I think the LED lighting comes as part of the aquarium top/hood

The display looks awesome, but buying recast items is still not kosher, right?

Especially an eBay auction link, as noted in the forum rules and guidelines:

Quote:
DO NOT POST LINKS TO ACTIVE AUCTIONS THAT YOU ARE NOT THE OWNER OF.

The only exception to this rule is an item that claims to be screen used (a pulse rifle for example) and you want a clarification/second opinion. If the item being sold is a "found item" that was used in the films (such as a Racal headset, alarm box, Gerber Knives, stedicam arms, etc...), feel free to make an offer of a group buy.

It's not an active auction, it's buy it now. Same as if you were linking a shop selling something.

this is the only kit that I got as a recast simply because its not available anymore that I know of.

I did use de-ionized water from whole foods. I was told that it might help. Other than that theres no filter.

The led lighting came with the aquarium. If you youtube the model theres some videos showing it off.

Im planning on making a video this weekend that will go over everything.
