The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

@Steve, LOL Aye you do go nuts sometimes on the buying spree's of past LOL

@bigbisont, Aww thanks man really appreciate the very kind words and hope I deliver.
Have to say Nick has truly set a bar with his Apone custom.

Knew of these figure but kept fighting the urge due to another scale to start on LOL
Victim now so lets see what I can do :D

For all Interested for customising their own Smartgunners..

Not sure if Paul Elder still posts here but I advise you to keep an eye on Shapeways.
Been speaking with him about doing his Smart gun at the scale for the NECA figures, so those brave souls who customise, you make your vests and rigs and at least Paul may have the Smartgun in play soon ;)

I have bought some 1/6th HALO weapons and various bits & smaller 3D printed weapons (not from Paul) on Shapeways and I am impressed to hell with them. Paul delivers this, one less thing for me to craft :D

So keep an eye out on Shapeway Marines.

Certainly have an interest from me Melissa.

Just out of curiosity is it the same size as the NECA lid as it looks a tad too big for Hicks head?
Great job as said just looks a little larger than it should be.

This as it is would work for any of the WWE heads & other various brands that got used for custom Marines.

It is a tad larger, but can be easily scaled down a tad. I'd also like to bring the lobster plates back a little more as well so they don't sit on the back of the shoulders, pressing the helmet up.

I will tweak it a bit :)

Long shot but why not do the Lobster plates separate?
Leave it to the buyer to make the plates fit the way they want them too?

I for instant would use cloth/thing plastic card shaped "N" straps for a more free hanging look and also flexible. Wont be a great deal BUT it is some give this way.

In theory April 11th!

Big time "in theory", cuz you know it was originally listed for last October! It keeps getting bumped. But right now the Calander is holding firm with an April 11th shipping date. Knock on wood...

Just asked Randy @Neca on Twitter and he says "any day now".

I love Tweeting about Hudson, as it generally gets a reply from the @USCM_PvtHudson bot:
"Check it out, I am the ULTIMATE bad ass! State of the bad ass art!" :D

Just a heads up, Amazon has a sale on the Hicks 2-pack for ~$20 and Windrix for $13.78 plus free shipping on them if your total order hits $35 (which those 2 alone would fall juuuuuuust short of  ). But still a good deal if you missed out or were just waiting.

*Updating the Hudson 2-pack release*

The guys I have my pre-order through are reporting that they will have stock and start shipping 4/14/14. They should start hitting regular stores shortly after that. (knock on wood).

I absolutely will be getting one. I think it will translate into a great figure.

Still I can't help but feel like it only made the cut because there are no likeness rights to argue over...But I guess I shouldn't give them too hard a time. Scoring Weaver buys them a bit of time still before I raise hell about a lack of Vasquez. A bit more time anyways

Ultra quick mini-review of Hudson 2 pack.

Overall, I like it. I really do.
Image

Image

I think the face on my first one isnt bad at all. No pics of my second one, but its a bit more ham-fisted on the paint for his facial scruff.
Image

The Helmet is a big improvement from the Hicks overall. Gone are the rivets. The back lobster plates are painted FAR better than Hicks and actually have some weathering. The mic Boom is INFINTELY improved. The hicks helmet had the worst mic that was clumpy and droopy. They look like the redid it to me. The mic is much cleaner and straighter here.

The unforgivable sin to me is the fact they SCULPTED in the fabric texture of his helmet cover, meaning they KNEW it was a cover... BUT they ignored that fact when painting!!! They were too lazy to paint the cover like the BDUs, and they gave it the same paint job as the hard armor. So lazy. They knew it was different but they painted it the same!!! That pisses me off to no end. Now if you want it painted right, you need to paint over or around the grafitti.

Image

Speaking of the grafitti... Its there! Here you see his "brain dead" and his count down to his freedom. I think they botched the 8-Ball in my opinion. They did it so huge that it looks like a random elongated #8 surrounded by heavy weathering. But from a distance it looks kind of like an 8 ball...
The fact the helmet sits so high is a bit odd as well. He doesn't have the "big hair" excuse like Hicks.

The aliens are more of the same. Seen one alien figure from this line, you have seen them all.
-Crooked legs
-Slop filled inner mouth
-crooked jaws.

BUT, both my Warriors had good joints, no breakages, and I still like them. Damn glad to have them.

Image

I think if it weren't for that careless paint scheme on the helmet cover, this would be the perfect Aliens figure. There is a LOT to like about it and I am damned happy to finally have it.

I had them pre-ordered from Amoktime. But people on the SSF have said they found them at Toys R Us already.

Gotcha. I was in my local TRU a few days ago and saw nothing. That's why I asked.

Holy smokes, those painted-on eyebrows look like something out of a John Waters movie!

ALL the cloth camo on these figures needs to be repainted. Soapy did a fantastic job and it didn't look that complicated. The stuff on the top of Hudson's helmet would absolutely look better if you redrew it (on top of new paint) with an extra fine tipped sharpie. That 8-Ball is a disgrace.

I think the angle and placement of the helmet are supposed to represent the split second during the the "...you want some too?" scene where the helmet nearly flies off his head :)

I'm not so keen on the headsculpt but I might have I get this :)

Well waiting for some printable cloth to arrive and I am printing some cloth patches, Also I plan to print a sheet of the camo, to scale. Then I can give helmets a proper cloth cover. Moreso with the 3D printed ones.
May even do 8 pointer cover and a few other cloth pieces to scale.
