Didn't the A3 rifle have an aluminium shroud like the rest?

One did; the practical one one that was fired in Alien 3.

The others were all made from the stripped down ones used in Aliens and had vacuum-formed shrouds put on them (most likely formed from the shroud of the practical PR).

Does that one have a repro SPAS cage then or does "custom pressed" mean they don't know it's a real-world item?

I think they're referring to the part on top of the SPAS cage.

I can understand why it was done but painting the shroud green on this gun is a little 'awkward'. Do we really dislike Alien 3 that much?

Would you rather have a prop from Alien3 or Aliens...

I don't agree with the repaint but I understand why they did it.

That or there weren't that many in the first place. I know of two or three I think that have aluminium shrouds. Willie Goldman may be able to help on this. Most of the time the actors are carrying the resin and foam stunt PRs.
