The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I've made two subforums in here for drop threads to hopefully make upcoming events more obvious.

"UKCM Drop Threads" is where future "official" drops will be posted about. Every one of these threads are looking for people to sign up to the ready line.

"UKCM Archived Drop Threads" is a read only subforum. We will move drop threads into here a short while after the event passes and when discussion dies down.

Hey guys

I just wanted to ask how drops work and whats expected of you. I kind of figured that you get assigned to a unit but are you invited to attend the drop by the organisers of the event or is it just we turn out at an advertised event. Im slowly starting to put together a list of all the gear Im going to need and looking at sources but I wanted to get more of an idea of how a drop is put together and how it works.

Cheers

Keith

Every drop is different. We do both. For many events, we just turn up as a group of friends. Others, we contact the organisers beforehand and secure a table and/or changing areas in return for having people in costume and interacting for the majority of the day. On the extreme end, we have been known to do corporate engagements for Fox and Sega. You should be able to get a sense of what sort of event it is from the drop threads here - if "perks and responsibilities" aren't mentioned then we're just attending as punters.

It's probably much less organised than you'd imagine - on different days we manage to be a "drinking club with a dressing-up problem" and then the next week we manage to be an amazingly (surprisingly?) professional costume group.

I like the beer idea...

Sounds like my old outfit lol. Thanks for that... It gives me a little more of a basis for what Im putting together. I suspect I am going to probably build my kit up for airsofting as well. Might bring another aspect to having the kit. But it sounds like its a fun day out.

Cheers

Keith
