The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Personally I'd rather see tactical movements than ceremonial.

Like a few others I have done my turn in cadets, although I was on the drill squad I never really enjoyed it that much.

lol. I LOVE drill!! :D

If I can help out in any way, I will! :)

I can't see alot of use for ceremonial in this case but of course people might have something specific in mind.

I could certainly put together a crash course manual in battle drills.
It's never as good as a practical lesson but it would give everyone somewhere to work from.
I can't do anything for two weeks though as I'm leaving tonight.

I'm certain there's quite a few people on this board who've "done time" before, either in cadets/ROTC or the actual uniformed services - the latter for myself. It's kindof exciting to see people talking about this, honestly. Between advice from the vets in the charter, and the religious reviewing of the "canon" source material I KNOW some of you guys do ;), I can't wait to see how bad-ass this group looks in person.

I tried to convice a guy in Nijmegen this week that swapping his campaign hat for my beret was a good deal. He didn't think so.
Oh well. :D

Y'know, I was thinking about this on Friday, and I realised something.

One of the bigger hurdles in trying to impress the civvies at gigs would be the fact all our gear looks different. Simple things like uniform badge type and placement, armour paint schemes, etc.

Can't see an easy way around it really, short of drawing up rules on dress code! And let's face it, not many people would want to have to go change their gear now...

I agree that we don't exactly have uniforms. But again, no real solution, and I hope we don't take moves to become the 501st anytime soon.

The gear definately looks close enough though, as long as we're not going extended extended universe to express our creativity.

Column files from the right!
Forward, Harch!

Maybe I missed all the planning last year but it seemed like we sort of maybe perhaps wanted to do something in and all official military style...and then just ended up walking in the parade. Dcon's my vacation. I don't need to stress about staying in formation at 8 in the morning after two reeeeeealy late nights of partying. I had a blast last year during the parade and I'm sure we'll fall into a lovely rag tag looking groove again this year.

Yeah, let's face it, we pitch up in field gear, not ceremonial gear...

It doesn't matter how we march, we'll still look hotter than those pesky Stormtroopers... :p

I don't need a bumper sticker to tell me I'm hotter than a Stormtrooper.

OH HELL YEAH!!!
