If you watch the film closely during scenes involving close-up shots of the trackers you can see just that, the person holding it moves it just off of centre to the camera lens and you can see what's either a whole mini-TV (unlikely back then due to the size of even miniature TVs) or more likely the CRT from a mini TV.
Hard to see in a still image of course but you can see it just below the screen box in this image.

That's very likely. I know Terry Reed had to have the Tracker props made and ready on set over a weekend so it's fair to say there'd be some differences. Let's face it every single Pulse Rifle is very slightly different so there's no reason why these wouldn't be either.
