The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Oh joy. Spat kit arrived. I am starting a new thread for those people who want a working headset.
Can't write more now. Need to admire the pieces some more:)

Really nice kit. SO glad it came with screws. I had to put it together right away but I can take it apart and paint it later.
I need to hide the wire. I will go to radio shack to by some of the wire wrap and see how it looks. I could get a hollow mic boom and run it inside but I have not decided.
One small problem with my design. The distance from the earbud to the mic is not quite long enough to hide the wire completely w/o shortening the boom.
Not a big deal.

Don't forget that embedded in the resin of the ear stalk is a wire rod for reinforcement. So technically there is a hollow in there. But if you remove the rod, that resin part will be very weak.

Not a problem. I was going to cut the metal rod but decided to hold off. The wire isn't hidden yet but it works great.
I will take it apart and sand and paint.
I drive with the doors off the jeep so I might add a little bit of foam on the inside of the mic.
