The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'm going to give this a bump. Partly because Abe told me to, and partly because I love this quote from the Kickstarter page:

Quote:
While we designed makeup characters for Ridley Scott's aborted version of I Am Legend, he told us that the original Alien suit restricted the performer's movements more than expected. That limitation led him to change the way he shot the creature, to a more horror-based approach. For instance, appearing in the flashlight beam held by Tom Skerritt was a way of avoiding having the Alien climbing or running. According to Ridley, embracing this limitation actually improved the film. These days the 'solution' would probably be to digitally replace the Alien with an over-nuanced, hyper-active, CGI creation that looks like it belongs in a video game. And it wouldn't be as nearly as scary.

Share this on the Facebooks and, if you can, contribute! Some of the pledge rewards are pretty cool too!

Holy smokes! This sounds great, and what a wonderful crew of artists! They certainly need some help though if they are going to reach their goal. I'll do what I can to put the word out, but money is tight all around.

When I first saw it, I thought "Huh? ALIEN crossed with The Thing, on a boat?". But when you think about it, if it's done right then what creature film could be be better than ALIEN crossed with The Thing? :)

We really gotta spread the word to help get it funded. They have some awesome pledge rewards. Like getting a full creature that will be used in the flick. Pretty cool stuff

I'm spreading the word already. The Alien storyboards did show the Alien attacking Dallas leaping from wall-to-wall, IMHO less impactfull than suddenly being there!

It's definitely looking like this might not make it's target. :(

Can we think of any social-media celeb types that might be interested in plugging it?

We need that Zach Braf a$$hole to put his name on it, then folks would fund it.

Actually, melding this with his Gardenstate sequel works fine for me, I'd love to see Zach and Natalie Portman killed on screen by shapeshifting monstrosities.

Not if you want to pledge over $200, as they still show a few left. :)
