The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

PostPosted: Sat May 04, 2013 6:35 pm

Country: United Kingdom
Edit: Apologies, Pug50 has already posted details about this screening but I've left my post here anyway as it has a little bit more information :) Please get your friends to vote.

For fans of Aliens who will be in the London, UK area on July 25th you could have your chance to see this film at Pinewood Studios where it was filmed. However you have to vote for it!

The Luna Cinema is holding a vote on which film made at Pinewood it will show outdoors in the beautiful gardens of the studios on Thursday 25 July 2013 at 9pm, you can even bring a picnic with you. According to their Facebook page currently Skyfall is first with Aliens second, there are only a few votes in it.

Vote by either of these two methods if you want to see Aliens at Pinewood this summer! Votes must be cast by June 3rd :

Via facebook:

http://www.facebook.com/TheLunaCinema (scroll to the post dated 4 April)

or via their website at:

http://www.thelunacinema.com/#/pinewood-studios/4575738932 (enter your email, make your selection and hit return, there is no 'vote' button)

Even if you can't make it please vote for Aliens as many of us in the UK would love to see this at Pinewood!

Details from Luna Cinema's website:

The most iconic film studios in the country, Pinewood Studios will become the setting to enjoy a screening of the film chosen by the public as "Pinewood's greatest film ever!" With a history unsurpassed in British Cinema, Pinewood has been the location for some of the most iconic films with both Carry On and James Bond making it their home. Our screening will take place in the beautiful gardens of the studios, itself the setting for many exterior scenes in major films. Make sure you register your vote for the film you would like screened from our short list by June 3rd 2013 - with every vote you are entered into a draw to win a VIP tour of the studios with lunch in Pinewood's historic bar. As it's a one off screening here, we are anticipating overwhelming demand for tickets so make sure you book early to avoid missing out on our cinematic event of the year!

VENUE ADDRESS: Pinewood Studios, Pinewood Road, Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, SL0 0NH
(only 20 miles west of Central London)

Thanks to everyone who has voted, Aliens is now in the lead but there is still a month to go. Let's hope that some Carry On or Mamma Mia fans don't get wind of this and start their own campaigns! :shock: Although I wouldn't mind seeing Carry on Camping at Pinewood, it would be a laugh..

Yup, not a very well coded web site/page, with Flash in it making voting on popular mobile devices impossible and no check of IP addresses, so voting from multiple e-mail accounts is available. :)

I wonder if someone should contact this company and advise them that if Aliens wins (I was SO tempted to put "when Aliens wins" but don't want to tempt fate) they could still have a "Special Guest Introduction" if they spoke nicely to Mr Trevor Steedman! :mrgreen:

Looking Good! Aliens is still well out in the lead on the Facebook Vote! Wish there was a way to know what the voting was doing on their website! :-( Almost tempted to go ahead and buy a ticket now! :mrgreen:

So with no sign of a result being posted on their website or Facebook I availled myself of the Contact Us page on their site, yesterday and emailled the person responsible for Customer Services as follows;

Quote:
To: <lyndsay@thelunacinema.com>
Subject: Pinewood Film Screening
Date: Wed, Jun 5, 2013 20:47

Hello There,
I was just wondering when the announcement of the winning film for the Pinewood Screening will be made since it was stated as being voting closes on the 3rd June and title announced on 4th of June and as yet nothing has been announced on your website or Facebook?

Kind Regards

Alan Dawson aka "Winch"

and I just received the following response;

Quote:
Hi Alan,

Pinewood have also been holding votes so were just waiting on their final numbers. We should know in the next few days.

Which film did you vote for?

Kind Regards,

Lyndsay

Perhaps I have an overly suspicious nature but the more separate ballots that have to be combined and collated the more concerned I become that this may not be a "free and fair poll" :evil:

I have just sent a follow up email answering her query about which film I voted for and also asking if any "hints" might be possible?

If you don't ask you don't get after all! :twisted:
