The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

This doesn't make any sense. If R Scott created Prometheus to get away from the Alien franchise, why would Fox remake Alien to fit the new backstory?

It's Forbes, so I doubt they really have their finger on the pulse of movies. I do like the idea of Beckinsale in her underwear getting into a spacesuit.
I also thought Wiseman's Total Recall was pretty good.

Hang on...
When did these Halo and Bioshock movies even come out, let alone sink?

Methinks this is some form of bull...

Sorry guys, I should have included the link. Bioshock and Halo died before they ever got off the ground.
The article is really focused on the possibility of a Gears of War Movie. Can you "remake" a franchise in a different form?

You maniacs! You did it! Damn you! Damn you all to hell!

I really hope they hire Kate Bekinsale as an actress, and not just change Ripley into a Selene clone!!

We don't need more Ripley movies.
The clue is in the name - We need more Alien movies.

And people using AvP / 2 as reasoning for "Alien movies without Ripley suck" - No. Alien movies with too much studio interference and / or a simply bad script suck.
See also "Most of Alien Resurrection" and "What Alien 3 could have been as opposed to what it was" ( And I LIKE Alien 3! )

There's a wealth of great stories already extant in the Alien universe - And even if they will never be told for studio-political reasons, the fact that they DO exist proves that it's entirely possible to write more.

The gap between A3 and A:R is crying out for another movie.

Say the company develops the xenos to be weaponised, there's a massive war, the xenos are deemed illegal and terminated. That would explain why earth looked like it did in the deleted scene in AR and why all the kit in AR was so crappy lookng. Also it would explain the cloning of Ripley and xenos; the company want the xenos back cos they aren't very nice people.

JUST A THOUGHT!

OK, lake April fools joke. The funny thing is it was just "discussed with disgust" recently. I didn't think anyone would bite.
Sorry;)
Here is the original.
In 2007, a Gears movie was slated to be made with Stuart Beattie writing the script and Underworld/Total Recall’s Len Wiseman directing. Had that been the case, we probably would have seen his wife Kate Beckinsale as Marcus Fenix.

This might be a joke here, but let us face it, it IS eventually gonna happen. Surely you have all noticed the movies hollywood has been cranking out lately. All things late 70's and 80's are new and awesome...again...i guess. There will be an Alien remake, and maybe even Aliens. Apone will be recast with The Rock or something retarded. They won't use pulse rifles, but some other "as of today" assault weapon. If they do it, they will do it.

OMG!!! according to these articles, it looks like this concept could possibly be inevitable.

If true, I think I might be sick. Personally, I do not believe any remakes are needed here. We have gotten as far now as Prometheus, and there is no telling where we can go from there. But what this is about likely is Fox's desire to include a Ripley character in the franchise, now likely played by some A$$ hat like Angelina Jolie or Megan Fox or the like. I do not view further appearances of...Ripley...as crucial to the franchise though.

Both old articles, dude.
Hell, the second one cites Tony Scott as a source!

They will redo it guys, the writing is on the walls for all things 80s and before to be redone. Hollywood has totally given up on new stuff and anyone with eyes can see this.

There's a million reasons Alien won't be remade anytime soon - if at all. The studio is more interested in locking the script for Prometheus 2 and hopefully a 3rd then actually remaking the original film.

Call me an optimist, but I don't see it either. I think it would enrage more people than it appeals to.

Plus, most of the 80s and early 90s flicks getting the "remake"/"Reboot" treatment are not exactly deep films. The aliens universe is pretty expansive with plenty of avenues to pursue in the form of prequels and sequels. So there can be a lot of growth with a new, yet tied in story. Most reboot-fodder can't claim that, and hence the only option to re-do the same damn thing but flashier.

Hyper-true ! A recent example is Robocop. Before it was an excellent satire about consumerism and now it is just "another" soulless blockbuster !

It would be wrong to make a remake of Alien. So I hope these rumors aren't true. But at the other hand I think a good alien movie doesn't necessarily need Sigourney Weaver. It hasn't been a good idea to bring her back with that nonsens backstory in Alien 4 and I'm open for new main characters and stories in the Alien franchise.
